You start without a cube on the renown track so, it's like you start on a virtual 0 space. Then, when you score VP and take the renown token and go back to the track, do you have to consider that virtual 0 space or after getting the token you move the cube on the 1 space of the track?
Thank you!

There is no 7 space either. When you get to 7 renown and take the tile, you also take your cube back, because now you have a token worth 7 points and no longer need to keep track of that on the board.

When you get an 8th point, place your cube on the 1 space on the track to record that.

We use the "virtual 0" space idea.

We each place one cube on the edge of the board, right next to the Renown track, at the start of the game.

When we get renown, we move the cube up the track.

When someone reaches the 7 renown token, they take the token, then take their cube off the track and back to "0", and, if additional renown that would exceed 7 is earned, move back up the track accordingly.

Interesting variant, we have taken to playing with the 7 renown tokens face down. So the person earning 7 renown gets the "hidden" bonus when achieved. It adds a little something when you earn it without knowing the bonus vs. going after it as a strategy.

Happy gaming!

I do not find it strange since you are suppose to take the cube back to your supply, not put it at the start of the renown track again edit: until you get more renonwn.
