I know this might be slightly off subject.
Does anyone know what type of plane shot Frank Luke down?
I am working on a game and I need to know this.
Thanks.

Hi,

It does not look like he was shot down. At least that is not what killed him. This is from wikipedia:

"Luke met his fate in the Battle of Meuse-Argonne. Under threat of arrest for going AWOL, Luke took off in a SPAD XIII fighter without authorization and flew to the front. He shot down three observation balloons but was wounded by antiaircraft fire. Short on fuel, he had no choice but to land in enemy territory. Surrounded, Luke is said to have pulled out a pistol and fired at several Germans before they killed him. He was awarded a posthumous Medal of Honor."

Here is a link to the whole article:

I hope this helps.

Probably Fokker D.VII's. The Fokker DR. I had been withdrawn from service by then although some hold-outs were still flying them. The Fokker D.VIII was pretty rare and I believe its use was mostly prevalent among naval units (which would've been stationed in the north).
