Hi folks,
after playing many euros with my wife we've realized we're lacking a competitive 2 player adventure game, up to 1 - 1,5 hour to finish.

Games we're now considering:
- Discoveries (although more euro than we wish)
- Runebound (Third Edition) (possibly a bit too long)
- Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn (absence of a board)

So none of the above meets the demands (that doesn't mean we won't buy them anyway).
We don't mind having a game which gets better with more players, but only if it's balanced and fun to play with two.

Maybe Arcadia Quest? But how about it's interaction and scaling?

What else can you suggest?

Gloomhaven, each mission/scenario is supposed to be about an hour. Not out yet, but should be soon.

Mage Knight Board Game, may not fit in your 1-1.5hr window though.
And a couple blind suggestions that I've never played and quite frankly don't now much about beyond the BGG excerpt.

Thanks, I've played it a few times, I liked it (7/10), but I think having Mansions of Madness pretty much covers more than what Claustrophobia offers.
Also a symmetric game would fit us better.

Thanks, adding to watchlist

Mage Knight is tempting... does it play well with two players?
The other two - that might be a sweet spot! There's second edition of Dungeon Twister available at some shop here.

I've not played MK with two and the lone game I have play was a long time ago, but nearly 60% of the BGG voters say it's best with 1 or 2 and highly recommended with 3. I used to want to get DT because it looked like a puzzle game, but my lack of getting 2p games to the table eventually removed it from my wish list.

I would like to recommend Fallen. Has a very immersive theme with the story cards, very asymmetric sides and tons of dice-chucking and strategic card playing.

Depending on what you mean by "adventure game", Above and Below might fit the bill.

Mage Knight DEFINITELY WILL NOT fit in your 1-1.5 hour window.

Well, the introductory Exploration scenario can be played in that time frame. Perhaps also some of the 'Blitz' scenarios. A full Conquest game will take significantly longer, though.

Sadly, the grim theme is a no-go.

The paragraph adventure is a nice concept, but the core mechanic doesn't really appeal to me.

If we'd like a similar shorter game, eventually we may buy MK.
If it was just me, I'd buy it right away, even if it would lay on the shelf between TI3 and War of the Ring (very rarely played).
