83 Syrian troops killed. 120 wounded. ISIS takes advantage and gains ground.

US blames Russia.

Quote:
The US continued attacking the Syrian troops until they were warned by Russia that they were attacking the wrong site. The US has since expressed “regret” but also condemned Russia for calling an emergency UN Security Council meeting over the matter, insisting everyone knows the US “would not intentionally strike a known Syrian military unit.”

Protracted anti-Russia speeches by the US Ambassador ended the emergency meeting prematurely, and has led Russian officials to remark that the incident is “suspicious” and reflective of the US refusal to coordinate in the air war against ISIS.

Hmmm...IS or the Assad regime? Which one is worse?

On this, I don't give a flip.

Well you don't have a choice and your tax dollars support one against the other.

Shouldn't the US bombing a country's army and inflicting 83 dead, 120 wounded be a major major news story in a sane world?

IT ISN'T????

Funny, I saw it on CBS Saturday and then Sunday. Read about it on CNN and the BBC. You guys really need to check a wider variety of "legit" sources.

Who is "you guys"? I didn't hear a word about this on the radio and on CNN's website it is relegated to the equivalent of "See Page C6."

In fact, now that I am back on CNN it isn't on their home page at all.

Just went back to CNN to check:

US edition -- top story on their World tab*
International edition -- top story on their left column on front page

Maybe I get the super-double-secret CNN version?

*-The US edition is mostly taken up with the bombings in NYC and NJ.

Also checked Fox News (top of the World tab), MSNBC (couldn't find it anywhere), and Huffington Post (ditto).

Dude, let me school you on modern journalism:

The bombing runs in Syria were Saturday morning, maybe afternoon in the US. Saturday night, there are bombs going off in NYC. So, sure, it's main page (above the fold, us old newspaper guys called it) for much of Saturday until New York City gets rattled a day after the New Jersey bombing. Sure, this sounds cynical but...

Lots of bombing and death going on in Syria and Iraq every day. Bombs going off at home (New York City), not so much. Plus, the US bombings have legs, i.e. they will keep producing news, such as ID of the bomber(s), updates on the wounded, types of explosives used, any links to terror, etc. etc.

Yeah, it sound pretty awful and it might be. But journalism in America is a for-profit business. What grabs eyes wins the prize.

Well originally Assad tortured and repressed political opponents but nothing to isis which also threatens the west. Since the war started Assad has been catching up in terms of atrocities though.

Well, the US did inform the Russians of the co ordinates of their strike beforehand in accordance with treaty terms. Why did the Russians not respond right away if the knew it was a Syrian army position?

Not that it's really possible to tell truth from lie in these kind of sitations, but I'm even more sceptical of Russian claims than of American claims.

Is this the Syrian army you were intentionally bombing only a few months ago?

I guess this is what happens when you cannot make up your mind who is the enemy.

No I don't. Both the Syrian government and ISIS have committed innumerable human rights violations, up and including torture, mutilation, rape, and murder. I don't spare tears for scum like that.
