Why is one faith in an invisible entity that expects you to follow odd rules or gives the leaders of it's church money any less silly then another?

It is possible to have both and it's possible to have neither. I was trying to be nice when I typed that post.

"A fool and their money are soon parted." might have been better.
Irrational belief can lead to irrational behavior.

I appreciate the effort to be nice, but in at least my opinion, disparaging faith as a whole is a lot more not nice than just disparaging those who aren't so bright.

When I was younger, I would have within seconds of reading this comment asked you which of those two groups if either played a larger role in your self-identity.

EDIT:
That would happen no matter what I happened to think of your or of your intelligence, mind you.

There are many kinds of faith. Those that deny AGW would say that people who "buy it" have faith?

I love it when a moonbat proclaims that they are not religious, instead they are "spiritual". It's the same as rich people who can't admit they are rich so they claim to be "blessed". The nutty word dancing they have to do in order to maintain their lefty street cred is funny as hell.

Although it is wordsmithing to a degree, there does tend to be a difference? Mostly that people who are "religious" tend to be involved in organized religion while "spiritual" folks tend to be more private/individual in their faith. There's also some generalized differences re: deities, worship, and the like.

I mean it's fun to poke fun at, but in practical terms, they religious people and spiritual people do tend to be different.

Spirituality - it's called "woo". A lot of times, in my limited personal experience, spiritual people are those that have seen their way out of organized religion, but just can't seem to shake the brain washing they received as kids, and have to keep believing in something, anything.

And more than a couple flirted with Buddhism, curiously enough. Not sure why. Then returned to Christianity telling everybody they "attempted atheism". Not everyone escapes the loony bin.

Yes, but look who started it and why.

It was a "look at a religion I think is stupid, Because of who is in it" thread in which a few people asked "well why is it different from any otehr religion?".

People's tendency to fall for woo isn't determined by their political leanings. The kind of woo maybe.

As evidence I cite you prosperity scams, pyramid schemes, bank scams, anti-GMO, anti-vacs, scientology etc.

You can see the parallels to say how a Jesus or a Mohamed type got started back in the day. As always, starts with good intentions.
It's an excellent study on mind control and weakling followers. It is a train wreck. It is like watching "Hoarders" or "Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners". You come away like, "Wow, those people are fucked in the head! I don't have it bad after all."

LOL! "CULTIST ALERT! CULTIST ALERT! WOOOOOOT! WOOOOOOT!"
What wacko group were you involved in? Scientology? Jehovah's Witness'? Islam?cry
Edit: I personally don't need religion like others do. The forces or powers that make it go just are and always were. Most people need to have something to explain it all. Others have Secularism, Drugs, Alcohol, Communism, or Socialism to fill this need/void.

I agree, as I said what is the difference other then longevity and number of followers between this and most other religions.

But this was not what the OP said, it was "look at the silly liberals and their silly religion".

Is there something wrong with pointing out the truth? These ARE silly liberals (they're from California 'nuff said) with a silly religion (a waxed guy in speedo who denounces earthly bodies but insists everyone be buff, do ballet WEEEEEEEE and discourages sex, takes them to "enlightenment." It's no different when the left does it. You always seem angered when the left is poked. Remember this; No one can make you angry without your consent...

I am not angry, I was just pointing out this religion is not alone in being full of gullible morons who think that bouncing on a Sunday (becasue of Hop faith and charity) will, get them into the big mansion at the end of "the game of life".

As far as I recall the only time religious ("conservative") nutters are called out is when they want to do something to someone else, not when they just want to act like buffoons.

You really come across like an enormous dipshit.

I'm glad you can have such a great time watching a creepy con man take advantage of what appear to be earnest people looking for meaning in their lives "because they're all liberals" and "from California" and parts of "the left."

I assume it's just as funny when con men "on the right" who live in "the midwest" and market to "conservatives" collect donations from the very poor for their megachurches and luxury homes with false promises of salvation and meaning.

I personally find both pretty sad and taking such obvious and kind of gross pleasure in the misfortunes of others feels pretty crass to me.

I could care less how I come across to you. Yes, it is just as pathetic when a "rich, white,Christian" (what other trigger words should I add?) dupes folks out of everything they own just to "expand their ministry." But this documentary wasn't about them. I used to watch this creep Gene Scott on UHF channels in the 80's. He was some Christian preacher or something. DOPES would send him money! I would watch in horror like, "what fools are sending him money?" He had a horse ranch or something. He would be like "I can't get more horses without your funding." Happy now?

Fuck you, Offended Californian.cry

There are so many anti-Christian comments on RSP, you must gotten "used to the smell."
I find it hilarious that the RSP lefties get so bent out of shape and have to redirect EVERYTHING. It's like your mom caught you spanking off and you blame her! LOL!
I do get a sick pleasure from pushing liberals buttons, but just like the fool libs in this documentary, you deserve it!
