I'm still a little confused on how to handle a dink.

Can someone explain the movement of the players to me?

Thanks!
Steve

Hi,
The dink is a special attack in which a player doesn't strike the ball but, avoiding the block, tries to make a lob taking advantage from the position of defensive team

To play a dink the offensive coach organizes his team like to make a normal spike attack and the difensive coach moves defensive players like to defend against a spike attack.

So the defending coach moves the blocking players cards in the box in front of the hitter box of the opponent half court and can move 2 more players cards of 1 box each or 1 player of 2 boxes. In this phase it's possible that a single box is occupied by 3 players: 2 blocking players and another one "to cover a possible dink".

The attacking coach now reveals that the spike attack is a dink attack.
If the dink attack is good (turn FAC) the ball goes in the same box of the blocking players.

They cannot pass the ball so another defensive player can pass or dig the ball if possible.

It's more clear now?

Luca

Hi Luca,
That clears it up a lot.

If the defensive coach only has two players in the box, both going up for a block, and he doesn't have a third player to cover the dink or roll shot can a player from another box dig it?

Thanks!
Steve

Yes, the difensive player digs the ball from an adjacent box, even diagonally.

A dig is always permitted from adjacent boxes.
A pass is done from the same box of the ball.
