...or is it just me? Latest word seems to be this will be unveiled in late May. That's only a few weeks away. I'm excited about it, and not just because of the new games that will appear on the P500 list or the updates to what will be shipping next, but because of what this change may mean for the future of GMT games.

I have thought for a while that this would be a pivotal year for GMT. They've had some great success the past few years with Twilight Struggle, Commands & Colors: Ancients, and Combat Commander: Europe topping the list of some really great games. Now, looking at the P500 list, you can see there is a fairly significant backlog of games that have "made the cut". How GMT deals with this happy problem will be interesting and, I think, is one of the major challenges their business faces this year. Their new website could be (and I hope is) a big part of the solution. Improved access to game information, user account information, and an improved ordering and pre-ordering systems are of obvious benefit to customers. Even more important are the the parts that we don't see. Ultimately any improvement should be a big step forward, as GMT's business has definitely grown beyond the capabilities of it's current website. I'm hoping that it's new website will be a big step forward for them and signal the continued growth of what I've come to believe is one of the best game producing companies around.

Be on your guard. There are older and fouler things than Orcs in the deep places of the world.

I hadn't heard about it before, but I'm glad to now. Almost anything would be an improvement over the current site.

I am really looking forward to it, now that I know it's supposed to be coming. If only some of these great companies would employ some good graphic designers and web layout specialists that would give newcomers an indication of the quality and good times to be had with their games.

As it is now, I can only direct friends to many of the game publisher's sites out there with the warning: "Don't let the quality of the website turn you off or give you an impression of the quality of the games".

I sure hope they fix their online store so one can easily

1) Order more than one game at a time. I have lost out on quite a few preorders because I added 2-3 games and didn't notice that the confirmation email only had one.

2) See what orders/preorders you have. As it is it seems that information only exists in some internal system you get an extract from whenever you get a newsletter or a printout with a game delivery.

Fancy-schmancy design plays second fiddle to a good functional online store.

Yep I agree, it would be great to see a revamp, I love GMT, but their website is pretty mediocre.

Agreed. I am one of those "newbs" that was initially put off by the GMT site and their games in general. As the first games I was introduced to were Days of Wonder games and Rio Grande Games. However, since buying Twilight Struggle I have become a big fan of GMT. I now have C&C:A, TS, CC:E and Guilford with Blackbeard P500 on order. I think a new slick website will do wonders for a lot of people on the fence about their games.
