Hi

I am now the proud owner of Eldritch horror
Ive tried it solo and cant wait to play it with
a group next week. I also ordered Forsaken lore as per
a recommandation on this forum, someone said that
u need the game and a expansion for a complete game,
i assume that means the base game is abit unbalaced and
so u need a expansion to improve it.
Now i have 2 questions i hope u guys can help me with.

1. I like to sleeve my games, especially the ones
i travel with to play, but i havent found sleeves for
the big ancient one cards at my local store. Anyone know
if they exist and what that size is called so i can find
them on amazon? Hope u know what i mean, like the large
cards in Elder Sign are called "Tarot" size... cause i assume
thay are the same size as tarot card. Well if they dont have a name
i officially name them "BFC" cards... although the c is redundant

2. So forsaken lore expands the original game, but will the new cards
work with all other expansions, i dont like separating stacks before
each expansions, so for example if i combine the asset cards from
the expansion with the asset cards from the base game, do i have to separate
them again if i play Mountains of Madness?
U have to do that with some cards in Elder Sign and it sucks

Hi Cage,

You may have more luck posting in the game specific forum for Eldritch Horror.

However, Tarot card sleeves do exist! You should be able to find them on Amazon, just search for tarot card sleeves.

Forsaken Lore cards are just "more of the same" for the base game. They will easily mix in with other expansions.

Hope that helps!

Thx for the reply!
As for tarot cards, it was a exaple of cards with a specific name,
the ones i wonder about is the bigger Elder one cards in Eldritch horror.
They are bigger than tarot cards.

Is there a Eldritch horror forum on this site? Didnt know that, or did u mean another site?

Whoops, sorry I wasn't more specific on the forum part! The BGG community is fortunately full of helpful members.

I am pleased to show you one of the greatest resources on this site for sleevers: https://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/164572/item/2926920#i...

has done a lot of great work with his Geeklist, and the specific sleeves that fit those sizes can be found in that listing. It looks like and of these will work perfectly fine (listed by brand).

Investigator and Ancient One sheets:
Number of cards: 16

Swan PanAsia sleeve size: Talisman Character Card (SWN-055, 100/pack) - (103 x 128mm)
Thai Boardgame sleeve size: Talisman 4th edition: Character cards + Descent: Hero cards for 102x127mm cards (50/pack)
Ultra-Pro sleeve size: 4"x6" Soft Sleeve (82319, 100/pack) - (4" x 6" - 101.6 x 152.4mm)

Just a quick answer to the other part of your question.

The base game is absolutely complete and you can play it multiple times, no issues, great experience.

Forgotten Lore is the recommended (and IMHO the best)expansion because it adds more cards and variety to the base decks. It's the most seamless expansion and adds more replay to the base game, which, if you play it often, you'll want because you will have seen the same cards a bit too frequently.

However, you've only played it once so more variety isn't really needed right away. Especially since each Old One comes with its own unique challenges and in many cases own cards.

It's not really about imbalance.
In the base game, each Ancient One comes with 4 Mysteries, and with any given game with an Ancient One you will play with 3 of them. Forsaken Lore extends this to 6 total Mysteries for each Ancient One - significantly improving replayability.
There are number of other card additions that rounds or fills out Eldritch with Forsaken Lore.

2. The only thing that works like this for Eldritch Horror are the expansion boards for Mountains of Madness and Under the Pyramids and the cards which go along with each of those boards - these cards should all be stored separately anyways. The boards (and their associated cards) are only used with specific Ancient Ones or with the use of a specific Prelude (Prelude cards are also an expansion addition).
All the players I know keep everything mixed in from all the expansions once added.

They are 4x5 but unfortunately they don't make sleeves that size (at least in the USA) but you can buy 6x5 sleeves on amazon and cut an inch off with a razor or paper cutter.

Lots of people use 4x5 sleeves designed for photos. The ones I have leaves 2-3mm around the edges, so not a perfect fit, but they work well for what I use them for.

Cool, thx guys. Ill order the sleeves next time i order from amazon,
ive gotten good at cutting stuff as i just finished my custom Elder
Sign box interior, though i use the Mansions Of Madness 1st edition
box for elder sign as its big enough for Elder sign and all its expansions.

p.s. question to custom box builders, do need to reinforce super glued
foam core with pins or will it hold, im concerned about the compartments
that hold the cards when i transport the box standing up.

I use elmer's glue on foam core and it holds very strong. If an area is giving you trouble or you want it to be lined up perfectly (like corners) you can use pins right after the glue and then remove them once it's dried.

Thx, i used needles to hold the box while gluing. Was gonna get pins
as i thought maybe i needed to leave them in as reinforcement, as needles
wouldnt anchor in properly and move around.
I used super glue as it dries completely, the first glue i tried that
the guy in the shop where i bought the foam core recommended was still
sticky after drying a few days, and it was elastic and gooey. I was worried that the game compnents would stick to it and get damaged. But then i thoght that the superglue might crack in time as it is really hard when it dries.
I watched a youtube video on how to build the box, but i didnt find the brand of glue the guy used in the video, so thats why i improvised

This is the glue I use. I have built tons of inserts and I can assure you it's a great glue!
