We have a survivor whose list of disorders and abilities seems to be a mile long. He is seriously one messed up dude. But, he's still very helpful in combat. He's a Fist and Tooth specialist with monster claw style and Berserker, so that's great. He also has the Immortal disorder, so that's kinda cool.

In our fight against the Butcher last night, though, he completely dominated. He has the ability Ley Line Walker, and he has +4 evasion (also has monster grease equipped) when not wearing armor and accessories. We equipped him with a shield and used him as our tank in this battle. Almost all Butcher attacks hit on 4+ naturally, so the Butcher needed an 8+ to even hit this guy. When he did hit him, the damage came off his insanity first, and every 3 brain damage = frenzy. Which was +1 strength, +1 speed, and 1D5 insanity. It was essentially a loop that really did make our guy effectively immortal. Only came close to running out of insanity twice, and that was when Hack City was the last AI in the deck (and the Butcher was triggering it 3 times in a row per turn).

To make things even more absurd, early on we drew a mood that gave our guy the priority target token until he died, so there was no danger of the Butcher attacking anyone else. The only risk was from the Screaming mood, which was dealing 2 brain damage to everyone per turn. But that was another boon to our tank, and everyone else coped okay because of the insanity gained from frenzy after every third brain damage.

By the end of the battle, the tank had +22 speed and +22 strength. He couldn't really attack the Butcher after about +15 speed due to the trap card, but he was a perfect, unkillable tank while everyone else took care of the killing part.

This was so nuts that I still feel we must have been doing something wrong, but I think it was legit.

I know it's been a bit since i got a chance to play, but I'm pretty sure that is not how frenzy works. It is "when insane (3+ insanity), get +1 speed and +1 strength" not every 3 insanity = +1/+1.

Been some time for me, too... But Frenzy definitely stacks.

It isn't every 3 brain damage = frenzy, It is every time you take brain damage you get a token, when you get your 3rd token you suffer frenzy. So should happen after he is hit 3 times.

Yep, from the Glossary:

Quote:
Frenzy: A brain trauma result. A survivor who suffers this is Frenzied until the end of the Showdown Phase. Gain +1 strength token, +1 speed token, and 1d5 insanity. ... A survivor may be Frenzied multiple times.

The catch with the Butcher is you gain 1 lunacy token for every brain damage you take, and when you get 3 lunacy tokens, you become Frenzied and remove your lunacy tokens. Thus, every 3+ brain damage dealt = +1 strength, +1 speed, and 1d5 insanity.

The way I was handling it was to only get Frenzied (and remove the lunacy tokens) once per attack by the Butcher. So if he did 8 damage in one attack, the tank would only get Frenzy once, then remove the 8 lunacy tokens. But, the Butcher usually has multiple attacks--especially when Hack City is the only AI card in his pile.

I don't think so. The Infectious Lunacy card says:

Quote:
When you suffer brain damage, gain lunacy tokens equal to the damage suffered. When you have 3+ lunacy tokens, remove them all and suffer the Frenzy brain trauma.

So, I think you can't get Frenzy more than once in a single attack. But you can definitely get more than one token per attack.
