Every signle one (both thieves) and those loyal to the DON , dont want the agent in play because having the agent in play 7-8 people will severely hinder their own win objectives.

(agent wins alone)

Why wouldnt always player just left of don always pick "loyal henchman" and hide the agent?

thats whats happening to all our games. with don 90% winning?

help.

even if you choose to be a thief, or driver, you always (mostley) want to "hide" the agent token. ?? is There a solution for this?

Well, if players want fun games, why would they hide fun role ?

A solution is to add 1 more agent (7 players : 2 agents, 1 loyal, 1 driver OR 2 agents and 2 loyals; 8 players : 2 agents, 1 driver, 2 loyals OR 2 agents, 3 loyals) as this is suggested at the end of the rules (about changing the setting for experimented players). Then, you will not have any more 90% victory for the don !

wouldnt it be better if first person had a 50% chanse of not being allowed to hide agent vs doing anything he want?

"how to incorporate that idea in the box. maby one could flip a coin put it in box."

problem with your suggestions is that from most often hiding a agent, first player will have to hide an agent. otherwize risk is to great for don to pick an agent and everyone to loos.

There is the argument that if your group thinks that hiding the agent is obviously the best move for the first player, the first player could take the agent him/herself and claim to have done so, potentially getting the agent win.

I do think that the game could potentially benefit from having some randomness or hidden information in between players, so you don't have perfect information about your neighbours, but at that point it's basically a different game rather than a variant.

Well, you explain me you systelatically hide an agent. So, I suggest you to adapt the setting.
The main idea of the game is to let players choose (whereas in such games it's usually randomness). If you choose to allways play the same way while you think it's not fun, well, it's not easy to help you...

Yes.

But everyone should in a game always play the strategy that is best for themselves. To say "you should play in a way that lowers your win percentage" because its more fun? That kind of meta dont work.

Well, if you drink alot of alcohol at the same time or something i think one could do that

So, for your group, you need a different setting (with 2 agents). Reading your replies, it looks like you did not try but want to explain me that I am wrong, while, well, I playtested many different settings and know what can change by changing the setting.
