Following on from Eric mentioning it last week I have managed to get a pass for the weekend!

I'll probably head up on the Friday and stay for 2 nights. I'm happy to take anyone who wants to car share. I can fit in 7 at a squeeze but 5 is more comfortable!

Here's the website: http://www.fbgames.co.uk/Midcon/default.htm

Sorry to hear that Chris.

Just to confirm I have now booked the convention and the Hallmark Inn for 2 nights.

I'm already booked (of course) :-)

Ditto on lift availability from Aylesbury (room for 3), but I'll be heading up Friday morning and returning Sunday evening. Also worth mentioning that the venue is directly across from the train station in Derby, if anyone prefers to go by train.

Now the time is nearly upon us I thought it would be good to agree on what games we will each take so we don't end up with 3 copies of the same game.

I'm thinking on taking:

Terraforming Mars (assuming I like it after playing it!)
Nations
Mystic Vale: Vale of Magic
The Pursuit of Happiness

plus a few older classics that I feel like when packing the bags.

You will! If you're taking it I shan't. I'll take Terra Mystica and my Essen haul (minus the aforementioned). Will think about what else.

As per this evening's conversation I'll also be bringing my copy of Terraforming Mars, PowerGrid and RoboRally.

Also, you may have just received an email from Jeremy Tullett about parking charges. I booked my room via Booking.com rather than the convention and my booking specifies free parking with no need for reservation, so I'll be taking along a printout of that! Don't know how you booked your rooms, but may be worth checking out what your bookings have to say on the subject.

I vaguely remember the MidCon website stating there were no parking charges if you stayed in the inn or hotel. However that piece of information may have been from a previous year and not updated.

I'll check the inn's website.

Hmm, according to the inns website it is £8 for each 24 hours.

The hotel may be inclusive though.

Hmm that's annoying as on the website for Midcon it says both have plenty of free car parking?

Oh well we are in the hotel and the hotel says free parking

Hi Rae,

Sorry we missed you, but Leighton Buzzard's always very friendly, and the Christmas session is definitely the one to make! See you there.

Well not sure about that, but during the weekend I managed to play (in no particular order):
Terraforming Mars
Power Grid (Brazil map)
Rent a Hero
Tsuro
Pocket Madness
Abyss: Kraken
POOP: The Game
Taluva
Deep Sea Adventure
Grimslingers: Duels
Quadropolis
Kraftwagen

Lots of fun had, lots of games played, too much food eaten - the usual!

Good lord. Well that's you gamed out - POOPed - for the next week or so (there's a game called POOP, really? It would sit well alongside my copy of Asymmetric Resource Selection Euro) shake.

Edit: should have provided a link - Asymmetric Resource Selection Euro.

Chris, not only is there a game called POOP but Eric is the Poopmaster! Won it all 2 times we played it

Me, Mark and Guy also played
Istanbul
Mystic Vale: Vale of Magic
Sheriff of Nottingham
XCOM: The Board Game

It was indeed lots fun and it'll more than likely turn into an annual trip. Just wish we'd taken more pics to make this a proper review. Oh well, there's always next year!

Eric and Guy, thank you again for the games and company meeple
