Hello everyone! I will be traveling into Essen Hbf from Dusseldorf Hbf and wanted to know what is the best way to get to the convention from the station. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to public transportation and whenever I enter the addresses via Google maps it tells me to walk Any help would be appreciated for a newbie. Thanks.

In memorium. Bob Hoover died 25 Oct 2016 at 94. In WWII he was shot down in a Spitfire and stole an FW-190 to escape. He spent decades at air shows flying Ole Yeller, shown

It is actually very simple: just take the U11 from the Hbf (Haubtbahnhof = Main train station) towards the Messe Essen. Stay on the subway all the way until the last station "Messe West-Süd/Gruga"

After the fair, take the same train back.

Note that from 9:15 to 10:00 the Hbf U11 quay and from 18:45 to 19:30 the "Messe West-Süd/Gruga" quay will be very crowded.

You'll be wanting the dedicated U-Bahn U11.

(But yes, the FAQ is the place to ask this sort of thing.)

U11 is the best choice. Last year taxi from Messe to Essen Hbf costed ~12EUR

Instead of going by U 11 (Yes this one has a station right at the main entrance to SPIEL) take the tram 107 or 108 to stop "Florastr." and walk some 5 minutes to Messe.

As long as the weather is fine, this is a good way to avoid the very, very crowded U11 at least in the morning.

Ciao

Martin

When you are staying around Hotel Arosa, you can also take
Bus 142 direction Kettwig, starting at H3 Busstop
getting out at Messe W-Süd/Gruga
