Hi fellow educators,

I have recently wrote an e-book as a companion text to Wongamania: Banana Economy. For those that are unfamiliar with the history of Wongamania, it is designed as an economic board game with a strong emphasis of gamification of economic concepts into the game. Unlike traditional educational games, the primary design philosophy of Wongamania is based on fun and entertainment while education is a secondary support feature. It is hoped that players who managed to destroy their opponents’ investment portfolios through interest rate manipulation or political turmoil will be inspired to read more about how these events affect the investment world in real life. However, many has requested to hear from the designer’s point of view and a more in depth illustration of the financial concepts imbued into the game.

Previously, the staff of Capital Gains Studio who are demonstrating the games will share in more details on the educational aspects of the game but as the popularity of Wongamania soared over the years in my country, it is decided that a more efficient way of sharing the educational aspect is needed. The purpose of Wonganomics - Economic Cycle is to illustrate the economic concepts behind the game and some of the gamification design ideas and how it is related to the real world economics. The book can be read as a standalone but the book can be appreciated better after playing the game. This e-book mainly focus on the economics aspect of the game and there is a huge chunk of personal finance related gamification idea which I have planned for the future. 70 pages is already too much material for an e-book on economics.

If you are interested, I have attached the e-book in the file section of the Wongamania: Banana Economy which you can download for free. Feedback and comments are welcome.
