They are different enough to own both, but TTA plays much better 2p than Nations IMO. I think TTA is a much richer experience.

TTA is quite military-focused. Nations is less hostile. If that is relevant.

Overall TTA is the better game. Works great at every player count.

TTA is the more complex game also.

They are definitely different enough to own both.

I read the newer version of TTA balanced things better, have you tried it?

I read the newer version of TTA balanced things better, have you tried it?


I own it. It does balance things better. But military is still very important in a 2p game. It just lessens the possibility of one person crippling the other during the first age.

TtA is still the best new-to-me so far for this year. I think it will play really well 2-player. As long as military strength is reasonably close, one should be fine.

Yes and yes. And pretty much what Chris already said.

Military is slightly less important than it was before, and it is easier to defend (but only if you are not too far behind), but it is still important. Especially with two players.
