Though not all the games have been played so far (please try to finish the missing games asap), we are almost ready to start the play-offs. Only group C isn't finished yet. I wrote messages to all involved players to get done as fast as possible.

Group A

1. TTallas 14-0 100%
2. rsivel 11-3 79%
3. Tocko 9-5 64%
...

Group B

1. Sur_Johnny 12-2 86% (won both games against srky84)
2. srky84 12-2 86%
3. -toni- 10-4 71%
...

Group C

1. amorphous 9-3 75% tiebreaker won
2. sermonty 9-3 75% tiebreaker lost
3. Txakata 7-3 63% (can't be 1 or 2 even if win missing games due to
tiebreaker rules)

Group D

1. magnusrk 8-2 80%
2. xiis 6-4 60% (won both games against electricday)
3. electricday 6-4 60%

...

Generally I'd suggest if people agreed on live play they could publish their appointments in this thread so people can watch the final games.

Deadline 9th Nov deadlines prelonged due to tiebreaker game issues

1) TTallas vs srky84 2-0

2) Sur_Johnny vs sermonty 0-2

3) amorphous vs xiis 2-1

4) magnusrk vs rsivel 0-2

Semifinals (Bo3)

hello Ttallas,

thank you for the update. -- I hope I am able to finish the quarter finals with magnursk until 31 Oct. -- Background is that I am offline from today until (including) 18 October, due to the game fair in Essen and due to other urgent private and business reasons.

I think we'll find a solution IF players need more time. However all 8 players in the play-offs are among the ones who have been in time or even ahead of the schedule for almost all deadlines. I think it'll work.

I finished two games against xiis - East won both times, but he managed to win after three decades whereas I went the full distance. He sent me another invite, but I guess winning earlier counts as the tie-breaker?

HF game 1, richard won as East after 4 decades (with 3 MPs, and in 2 provinces missing only 1 unrest for the 4th and decisive MP):
http://play.boardgamecore.net/wsdv/16011

HF game 2: Sermonty won as East after 4 decades (with only 2 MPs; 2 provinces lacked 1 unrest each for a MP. Special note: West somehow managed NOT to play USSR tightens Oil Supply in decade IV!):
http://play.boardgamecore.net/wsdv/16036

So, the score is now 1-1, and we need one more game :-)

The decisive semifinal match

Sermonty (West) vs Richard (East)

was just finished:

Richard won with no mass protests in East Germany after 4 decades. This game was a very peaceful, build-up-your-own-economy game, altogether, there are only 11 unrest counters on the board (3 West, 8 East), and 9 provinces have no unrest at all (6 West, 3 East):

1st match of the finals will start tonight
http://play.boardgamecore.net/wsdv/17832
An economically strong GDR easily withstands all but 1 Western attempts to generate MPs mainly due to a federal decision against an all-in on socs.
1-0 Gelato
2nd match will be on friday ca. 20.30 CET
http://play.boardgamecore.net/wsdv/17867#
West gave East a very hard time on all fronts ($, socs, U) due to favourable cards and successfully tore the GDR apart after 3 decades (5MPs).
2-0
3rd match is scheduled for Wed ~20.30 CET
http://play.boardgamecore.net/wsdv/18147
After some ups and downs West finally beats East (5 MPs)
2-1
4th match on Fri same time
http://play.boardgamecore.net/wsdv/18246#
Match interrupted at the beginning of the 4th decade.
Finished today, West defeated East (5 MPs) with the support of a good draw in the 4th decade.
3-1

My congrats as well, Ttallas !!

The last match was a real nail biter. After decade 2 it looked quite promising for me (East), although I was not able to build the wall. In decade 3, I made a couple of minor mistakes, and entered decade 4 with one MP, and West holding prestige advantage. For my last action, my initial plan was to remove one unrest, but I then realized that I will end the game with 4 MPs, no matter where I removed that unrest. -- I then opted for Round Table, with the vague impression I could win with only 3 MPs. However, some things I did not consider, and so the game ended even with 5 MPs on my side.

A great finish of Ttallas/Gelato, and so he became the first champion of the WSDV-League! Truly deserved! (I played him six times, twice in the qualification round, and four times in the final, and managed to win only once.)

The open question is now: How can we hand over the microbadge to him?? I created some variants. But there are 2 problems:

* I have problems in looking them good at small size. Do I need special transformations? (I am using gimp.)
* How can I upload the microbadge to BGG, and make sure that only one user is allowed to use it?

Any ideas??

Thank you, toni and richard.

I agree the last match was very intense and close.

About the technical issues: no idea, not very good at that.
