Alright, here we go! Podcast number two out of three for today. Or maybe I’ll just stick to two and do the First Roll for today somewhere in the weekend. But we’ll see how the day goes. Just got up from a little nap and I can’t say I’m fully charged but it’ll have to do. First I want to point everyone to a different non-gaming project (though it is kind of related), helping out one of my guests (and patrons) Ed Jowett. It’s always a blast to have Ed on the show and his company’s comic division is nearing the end of its campaign for their first official release ‘Penumbra - An Era - The Empowered Comic’. It’s a superhero comic set in one of Ed’s RPG Universes and should be well worth a look. It’s only 3 GBP for digital or 8 for a physical copy so it won’t even break your bank account either. So, Check out Penumbra!
Now, On with the Show! Coffee and cigarettes Galore! Here are the Games that will end their Kickstarter funding on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Miniature Related projects:
Cult of Blood:
One miniature projects this weekend and it’s the Cult of Blood Fantasy Football Team from Atlas Miniatures. The most chaotic fantasy football team will come to the fields and it’s bringing its pretty cheerleader with them! Pledges start at 20 EUR.
A couple of boardgames then! The ‘Tasty-Minstrelified’ (which is boardgame speak for ‘Pimped-out’) version of Chimera Station, with metal coins and modular aliens is doing quite well. Not as ridiculous as their last game ‘Yokohama’ but that was also quite the feat. use aliens to make the most efficient, best space-station you can in this worker-placement game designed by Mark Major and illustrated by Brian (I really want to say F’ing here) Patterson. Chimera station is 45 USD for a retail version and this deluxe version is 60.
Nobody yet explained to me what an ‘abstract’ game is but ‘Druids’ is getting funded too. Beautiful wooden pieces all manufactured in the U.S.A. (some people really value that) bring a fast paced game about druids in a forest trying to outsmart and outlive each other. Druids is 50 USD and only available in said States.
Rift - Saga of a Dying World:
The final boardgame is Rift - Saga of a Dying World. A game that had a bit of an unconventional campaign page set-up (as in, it was a little vague) but still got funded and good for them. It’s an over the top (I want to say) Superhero game on a dying world where resources are scarce and the the board is shrinking. What can I say more? It’s 30 USD.
Card games. Three of ‘em. First Outlawed. A Game where you could Lie, Bluff or Tell the Truth in an anthropomorphic Wild West. Pick an outlaw in secret and try to meet its apprehend condition like telling the truth about which card you played and stuff like that. Arrest as many outlaws as you can and win! OutLawed is 15 USD
Next. No Regerts, a game about bad tattoos basically. Luckily mine are all extremely well-done, but some of the ones in this box are well… you don’t want them on your body. Get yourself to be the biggest bad-ass in town, while mutilating your opponents with the lamest ones around. It does kind of want to make me have a ‘No Regerts’ tattoo… just because it’s incredibly funny. Anyway, the game is 10 USD for a PNP and 25 for a boxed copy.
Ember - From the Ashes:
And Finally, in Card games that is. Ember - From the Ashes. The stand-alone expansion for ‘Ember - The Magical Card Game’ is bringing loads of new cards and strategy to this beautiful looking game, if you haven’t checked out the original Ember yet, check out my review on Wordpress or BoardGameGeek (https://thefinalroll.wordpress.com/2016/10/04/the-final-judg...). Anyway, the ‘From the Ashes’ expansion is 10 GBP and you can combine it with the original Ember game for 24.
Talking about beautiful games, the game of dice-drafting and window-crafting called ‘Sagrada’ is raising over 120K with over 2300 backers. As a skilled artisan, you will use tools-of-the-trade and careful planning to construct a stained glass window masterpiece in the Sagrada Familia. 90 translucent dice bring this game to a sparkling life! Sagrada is 35 USD for the retail version and 39 for the Kickstarter Version.
Party / Miscellaneous Games:
Spazz is combines hilarious gestures, speed and your silly side into a game where no kittens die… Alright! Flip your cards onto the main pile and when a matching card comes up, quickly make the gesture that goes with it. The last player has to take the main pile, so you can guess… lose your cards! Spazz is 15 USD for the base game and 20 if you add the expansion.
Role Playing Games & Related:
There’s one RPG this time and it’s Sun Spots. A 1920s horror Call of Cthulhu RPG scenario set in New England with ancient magics, unbridled ambition & a new take on an old god. It will be updated for the 7th edition of the Call of Cthulhu rules and it will cost you 10 USD for a PDF, 30 for softcover and 70 for a hardcover.
Expansions, Reprints, Relaunches & Upgrades:
Empire’s Reign (Relaunch):
I was wrong about Sun Spots being the only RPG this time, but this one ended up in this category for obvious reasons: it’s the Empire’s Reign Relaunch. It’s a supplement to the Ninja Crusade 2nd edition and will add a lot of new stuff like new character creation options, new mass combat rules and much, much more. PLedge levels are there aplenty so check it out for yourself.
Siege of the Citadel - 2nd Edition:
And the final project is Siege of the Citadel - 2nd Edition. It’s a game that I didn’t cover in the First Roll due to the hiatus but it’s a stretegy board game set in the Mutant Chronicles universe and as soon as I saw it my mind went ‘DOOMTROOPERS’, which was a CCG I used to have a lot of cards for. Cool looking mini’s in a dark, dark settibng makes me want to thor my money at it.. Damnit.. Every time… Pledges for the full game start at 69 USD.
Absolutely great work, buddy!
