Thanks for this. Looks like a good sized mini expansion. We haven't seen a Thrall miniature before so not sure if it will be completely new or another figure repurposed (couldn't really see any possible ones).

Hopefully this wil be the first of many expansions (I am still hopefull for a Egyptian themed expansion one day given how many Egyptian monsters they already have available).

Cool - whereabouts in the app exactly did you see this?

In the localisation asset. It was obfuscated with a xor mask.

Personally I'm a little disappointed the tiles sound so generic. Three are so many generic tiles now I'd have though we have room for more specialised locations. Two scenarios are good though, makes this for me a better option that mad21/22 (if I didn't already have 1e).

Wow! Thanks for figuring this out!

Those sound like a boring bunch of tiles - more bedrooms, halls and basements? We already have a good variety of those between the MoM 1e and 2e!

What I find even weirder is the fact that this contains three or four figures in total (two copies of the monster maybe?). I expected either no-figure expansions or ones that are choke-full of minis.

Spoiler (click to reveal)
And what is a "Thrall" anyway? I don't remember this being mentioned in any of the stories (admittedly I haven't read the more obscure ones).

Overall, this sounds disappointing...

I wonder if this relates to the recently announced DLC in anyway?

I like the generic tiles as adds more variety to the mansion layouts. I would have liked one or two more specialised tiles though but I do like that we are getting new yard and porch tiles.

It's strange that we'll get only 2 new investigators. There are a lot of new tiles, I would expect 4 investigators with an expansion size like this.

Is there any pictures in the files?

I'm surprised there are new investigators at all - we already have 24 between the base game and the two packs...

The list is of rooms, not tiles. Those rooms could well represent only three-four tiles.

Who says those are new tiles? Don't we already have those rooms? That could just be talking about the rooms that will be used. Not new rooms that will be added.

All of the rooms except 'Balcony' (which is a nice tile idea by the way) already exist. As the person above said, a number of them are all on the same tiles (Dining Room, Kitchen & Kitchen Storage for instance).

I'd like to know more of where this list came from and possibly see a screenshot.

Nice job. Reminds me of my old hobby of using a 6502 disassembler on Commodore 64 games to find Easter eggs in the code, or *gasp* hack the code so the 1541 disk drive wouldn't make that awful racket when seeking for bad sectors...

No images, sorry.

I have clarified the Tile/Room list. The rooms in brackets do not have their own tile, and I am guessing which tiles they belong to. There are 6 double sided tiles.

There are already duplicated tile/room names in the existing 2E sets, which is why they always use the set symbol now, I think they only want to use numbers if it is within the same set. These tiles are specifically listed as MAD23, rather than just used in the new scenarios.

Because I have been asked a couple of times now, the XOR key is 68264378. To make it easier I will release a new versions of Valkyrie soon which will extract the text for you (this is what I was working on, I stumbled on MAD23 by accident).

Valkyrie can now do this for you, for those who have been asking.

Install this:

https://github.com/NPBruce/valkyrie/releases

Import MoM content, then look under content/MoM/ffg.

Thanks for the info. Not sure FFG will thank you, but perhaps an announcement won't be far off anyway, especially now!

I didn't expect to see more physical stuff so soon. Obviously we have no announcement/date yet, but I'd guess it's not too far off if the app already contains detailed info like that.

For anyone also owning 1e (or re-released collections), we have a substantial pile & variety of investigators/monsters/tiles that will hopefully support many more scenarios in future. There is one announced upcoming paid-for scenario, so it's a start I guess.

Although, as someone mentioned, if all those room names already exist, this wouldn't need any new tiles. In which case this could actually be a very small physical expansion, with just a few minis + cards.

If that's the case, I'm wondering if it's an experiment to "lock" new scenario releases by requiring a minimal amount of physical stuff (eg. so they can put them in the app for free, but you can't play them without the cards).

This might allow FFG to compare sales/etc. with a new scenario that is purely an in-app-purchase, such as the upcoming one (requiring no new physical stuff, but not available unless you buy the DLC/IAP).

I think I'm more interested in digital scenarios, rather than more physical stuff in the long term. Some people may be averse to spending on DLC/IAP (so boxed releases with app updates may suit them better). Will be interesting to see how things go, and I guess our purchases will ultimately decide what we see more of in future.

I agree. At some point it becomes unwieldy finding the next tile or locating that monster. Scenarios or maybe a special location tile here or there are all we need.

Thirded! Already have so much stuff; fitting it in the box is already a challenged and as Charlie says finding the stuff you need quickly is tricky.

Yeah I'll say I was disappointed in the boxes the two 2E supplements came in. They aren't the typical high quality reinforced boxes that can reliably hold stuff in it, so I'm having to try to figure out how to store all of this crap.

While I've had a total blast with this game so far, and have no qualms about paying what I paid for all of it, the middling-quality minis, aforementioned supplement boxes, and once again, low quantity of dice (what's with this theme with their Arkham license?) frustrate me.

The problem is, they're not going to want to assume people have all the 1E stuff. Those expansions are expensive and not great value gameplay-wise. And printing tiles isn't that expensive.

There seems to be an assumption that the Core Box + 1E or the two expansion packs is the "core" game. I really don't think that's that case. They'll still be used as alternative tiles but I don't expect to see many expansions that require players to have them.

What would be nice to get in the app would be a way to list out "which tiles do I need to set aside in total for this scenario?" so one could filter down to a pile of "needed tiles" up front. Yeah, it might spoil things slightly, but that's why it should be an optional "game keeper" option off in a sub-menu somewhere. That could help ameliorate this issue a bit.

Before they announced the new DLC pack, it was actually my hope that they would do it this way because, like many have mentioned in regard to the DLC pack, I have an interest in being able to play the scenarios on different tablets and PCs without having to buy them for each one.

That being said, though, I also agree that at this point I'm more interested in more scenarios than I am in big box expansions. I already bought the two monsters and tiles collections (because I'm silly) so I feel like I have quite enough variety of investigators in months or so far but lacking in scenarios to play through.

The real strength of this game lies in the app & the variety of experiences it can bring. So hopefully that's where FFG will ultimately focus efforts, coming up with unique scenarios & challenging situations to tackle.

I don't think adding ever more components (as they might for more standard boardgames) will change things that much here. One room tile is very much like any other, for example.

If other people are feeling the same way, I hope that feedback reaches them before they invest too much effort in more cardboard & plastic expansions.
