When people said the insert for this game is terrible, they weren't kidding. It looks like they had good intentions... but it just fails. Did anyone figure out a nice way for all of the components to fit with the original insert? If so, could you post a picture? Or has anyone found a nice Plano that fits in the box that works with all of the components?

Quick answer is "no" I throw out the insert, bagged everything that could be bagged (too many pieces for a Plano), and put the cover back on. Maybe someone from The Broken Token or Daudelus can come up with a good insert. I tried to do form core on a different game and failed miserably. Some people are just not meant to use a glue gun.

I am going to follow this thread to see if anyone else can come up with a better solution.

A Plano 3450-16 box works well.

It will hold the specialists and all the other square chits. I bagged the goal bits and just two of the double length chits (locations).

The reroll chits, black die all wound up in the Plano. Works well enough I think. Bagged player die.

I found a cheap and easy solution today. Go to your nearest Dollar Tree store and see if they have the "Essentials" line of clear storage boxes. Three "Divided Storage with Lid" boxes did the trick and fit very nicely in the box, leaving a bit of room for bagged dice. The storage box lids do not hinge, but it looks like they will survive tip-overs.

The insert is not great, but I was able to bag everything and get it all back in the box without having to throw away the insert.

I know I had the dice under the insert (there's a section where the insert is raised and the dice fit comfortably.

Just got mine and opened it. I used this tackle box/storage container that I used to use for miniatures and it worked really well.

The following item is the same size (it's a very standard size for tackle boxes) and layout, though a different brand:
