Players can easily be knocked out of the game too early fighting zombies. That's a problem as if you lose say 2 survivors, you can be done and very frustrated.

Instead of losing survivors, I have them automatically retreat to their nearest reclaimed hex. This will mean it plays longer but I think it will be more satisfying.

Edit: Having played a full solo game, this rule change is a must I think. Alternatively, you allow survivor deaths only until the original starting 5 survivors are left for a player and then revert to the retreat to nearest reclaimed hex option.

Yeah, player elimination is as outdated as roll-and-move. I'm surprised modern board games still use such mechanics.

Your idea sounds like a good fix. I'll give it a go if my copy arrives.
