I've played my first game today, all shy in Easy mode.
I was doing so good till the 4th year.
Then i was assigned to "Escort Colonist Vessel" and yeeeks, the relentless raiders took me down. Bastards.
I have to play again, this game provides both tense and theme. Actually it is the best ST game i have played so far. And i have a load of them at home.

I had a similar experience yesterday only it was Shore Leave of all things. Drawing two events each turn swamped me pretty quickly.

We must move forward, not backward, upward, not forward, and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

Shore Leave killed one of my plays a few weeks ago too.

Despite leading directly to a loss, I love how thematic that is - Shore leave has NEVER gone well in the entire history of the show.

Another attempt, another loss at year 4 , this time a pretty simple mission but 6 Events + two of them giving me 2+1 Hull Damages sunk me fast.
I wonder if the Medium difficulty is even necessary.

Don't give up, Jan! Experience is very important in ST-dice... or maybe you need to change your dice?

Well, let's be serious: I'm sure you'll beat that level soon. Good luck!

(By the way: in another thread Carl advised regarding the importance of 'moving/refreshing' the Development deck. Do it!)

Oh mine and i played 3 rules wrongly making it big time easier for me ... i guess the key to the success is not to rush with completing the Missions during the first 3 years and take time to gain as many Developments as possible on the side.
No way i would give up , if it wasn't Star Trek then maybe ...

Today, my first win (Easy mode).
I took it slow first, collecting Developments and finishing missions just before all my dilithium depleted. Then when i had 9 Developments, it was quite easy to win. No "Shore Leave" this time ...
Next time i'll try the Hard mode.
