This variant adds more mayhem, mischief, and gore to the Loot n' Scoot system. Players may fight pitched battles playing new types of tiles when they clear a higher-level space. The tiles are: 3x each of archers, warriors, and cavalry chits - these need to be made up and placed face-down in a screaming hordes tile pool. But the risk has its cost and the outcome is uncertain.

Addition to rule 5: after winning the battle with the monster in a space class of 3,4 or 6, the player may demand a Screaming Hordes Pitched Battle against the builder of the dungeon as a new option in addition to continuing to explore or leaving without screaming, if they have at least two adventurers active on the map in their loot party.

Procedure- addition to rule 6: To resolve a Screaming Hordes Pitched Battle, each player randomly draws two Screaming Horde tiles. Starting with the active player and alternating, each player may then purchase up to two more tiles by: reducing a level 2 adventurer to level one; sending a level 1 adventurer back to the Inn; expending a hireling; or spending 3gp for one chit and 6gp for a second chit. The owner of the dungeon who is being challenged may remove one monster tile from their map in exchange for a horde tile. After a tile is drawn, the player may look at it, keeping it hidden. Pitched Battle then ensues in up to three rounds with each player revealing one tile at a time simultaneously. The rounds are resolved in a rock-paper-scissors fashion as follws:
Archers beat Cavalry,
Cavalry beat Warriors,
Warriors beat Archers.
Tiles of the same type melee with one another to no effect and are set aside. The player who wins a round captures the opposing tile (for scoring purposes) and may reuse their winning force in the next round. When three rounds are complete, compare the number of tiles captured. If one player has captured more, they win 1d6d+number of captured chits in GP from the Bank. If the initiator of the battle loses or ties, they run screaming. If they win, they may continue with further lootin' options. If the result is a tie, each player receives 1 gp from the Bank for ransoming captives, but no other reward (such is the futility of war). At the end of the pitched battle, all horde tiles are returned to the screaming hordes chit pool.

Optional: a Screaming Hordes Pitched Battle must be won in the Boss' level 6 space before attacking the Boss, once the Boss tile is revealed.
