Hi I am far from a Dust expert. I have been collecting the game for years, but have never really got down to becoming an active player.

I have a couple questions about the new starter sets.

Am I correct that the following new starter sets match up to old factions in the following way?

AXIS
-NDAK starter set
-Blutkreuz starter set

Allies
- Heavy Ranger starter
- USMC starter

SSU
- Spetsnas starter

Which faction does the Lufftwaffe starter set work with?

Am I correct that the new mercenary starter features figures that can be added in to any faction?

Also, I have a questions about the mats that come with the new starters.

How big are they? Are they made of neoprene? Are they double sided (grid vs non-grid) I have a couple of these http://www.dustgame.com/products_d.php?sid=55&id=305 are the new ones compatible?

Are the figures / vehicles in the new starters all new or do they reuse previously released minis?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Ezra

Yes, and the Fallshirmjaeger/Luftwaffe also is Axis

Allies

yes

SSU
- Spetsnas starter
yes

yes. Basically there are three major sides, each of which is composed of several factions (SSU: Guards, Chinese, Spetznatz, for example). In the new rules, there are advantages to using a majority of your units from one faction in a battle.

The new mats are all desert tone rather than grey, of course, and are single sided, with a grid. Dust sells a single piece large mat without any grid, in desert. They are 1/8" neoprene, mousepad type material.

Some are new (like the Luftwaffe), and some are existing models (like the first Allied starter.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Does anyone know the dimensions of the mats that come in the new starter sets?

Too bad you're not closer to Toronto. I have a good friend who's looking for Dust 1947 players in the Toronto area.

Thanks.

Hmmm. I'd be willing to make a trip to Toronto to play. Is your friend on BGG?

Thanks again.
