For anyone who is wondering, these are the differences between the many versions of this game.
Electronic Catch Phrase (2000)
10,000 words in 11 categories: Tech/Inventions, History Buff, Entertainment, Sports/Games, Geography, Transportation, Around the House, Food/Drink, Plants/Animals, Family, Everything (all categories combined) Features: Beep, beep, beep timer sound, score is announced verbally after each point.
Electronic Catch Phrase (2006)
10,000 words in 11 categories, same as above.
Electronic Catch Phrase (2009)
10,000 words in 7 categories, The World, Places, Sci-Tech, Sports and Games, Entertainment, Food, Everything (all categories combined). Changes: New illuminated display, score always displayed on screen, no longer announced.
Scrabble Electronic Catch Phrase (2012)
5,000 words & phrases in 5 categories: Entertainment, Everyday Life, Fun & Games, The World, Variety. Changes: New tick-tock timer sound, box says "words & phrases" now instead of just "words", not sure if there is a difference.
Electronic Catch Phrase (2013)
5,000 words & phrases in 5 categories, same as above. Changes: Scrabble removed from name for broader release as Hasbro does not own that trademark outside of the US.
Catch Phrase Decades (2013)
5,000 words in 5 categories: 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's, 10's. Changes: While shopping online it may be helpful to note that "Electronic" was removed from the name for all of the following releases.
Catch Phrase (2016)
5,000 words & phrases, newest edition.
Note that between each 5,000 word version, approximately 1/3 of the words and phrases are new. This information was gleaned by cross referencing various websites and is intended to be as accurate as possible. That said, if anyone has corrections please say so.
