I play and collect both Warhammer Invasion and Call of Cthulhu The Card Game.

Maik Hennebach did a great advise on deck building for 26 decks with a complete set of Warhammer Invasion.

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1610371/decks-26-casual-...

Will there anyone have the similar advise on Call of Cthulhu The Card Game?

Thank you.

Looking at that link, it's basically just a list of pre made decks.

You can find a bunch of CoC decks here if you want:

There was a project on the forums here to do just that. Take all the sets, and make a series of casual fairly balanced decks so you could just take it out and play. It kinda of fizzled best I can tell. I built several of these, and have tried to work along those lines. If I get a chance (it'll be a few weeks), I might could start putting some of mine together for you.

One deckbuilder in particular, JChoong212, used an approach that I really appreciated. Going beyond listing the cards, their lists separate cards into modules based on their function in the deck's design, as you can see here: http://www.cardgamedb.com/index.php/callofcthulhu/call-of-ct... . I thought it was a nice touch for aiding casual players, as they could quickly switch out one or two modules to get a different deck experience.

I do not know of anything particularly like you are asking. I had a look at those W:I deck lists... very cool. I'm going to make some of them myself. Still, looking at those lists they are just decks made with the pool, you can not physically make all 25 decks can you? There are card doubles.

I think this could be a fun deck building exercise. It would be hard to balance though, as once a card is used 3 times it would be out of every other deck and this would mean you will have to be very careful with not making a deck way more powerful than the latter ones you made.

Actually, this is quite a bit of work.

What might be more feasible would be to make 1 deck for every faction that is "beginner" friendly. Again, some effects would have to be removed, as there is only 3 Master of Myths or Alienist and not every deck could counter Festival or w/e.. so balancing would be needed but I fele this could be a more achievable goal.

CoCs greatest draw is the lack of deck building restrictions any faction can team with any other and I have even seen some descent tri-colour decks over the years, well fund ecks at least. So this is a really hard ask, as the permutations are just massive. If I made a Hastur deck for you, I would need to make like 6 to "demo" hasture properly (sorta I tink you know what I mean)

I'll think on this a bit, this could be a fun project. looks like some of the old CoC crowd still pokes their head in around here now and then. This might be something we could do to try and galvanise the community.. get some light deck building going on...

Arkham Inmate (CoCLcg @FFG forums) made a cool beginner deck I did a vido on once...

DECK - http://www.cardgamedb.com/index.php/CoC/cocdecks.html/_/coc-...

He was a good deck builder.... he made a pretty strong deck called "Undue Force" that is very new player friendly, but also pretty darn strong. What makes it a good "beginner" deck was that it was so simple to run.

I've had a ton of fun with that deck! It was especially useful to teach the game to newcomers because it's all characters, helpful events and a conspiracy. It helped a friend of mine who checked out of the game way back to start playing competitively again (though Denizens of the Underworld's then-recent arrival probably helped a lot, as he was always a Syndicate man).

Hey Ming,
funnily enough, I've just concluded a similar project for Call of Cthulhu and will be writing it up for a post soon - next weekend, possibly. Since I've never played Cthulhu at tournament level (unlike Invasion), most of my decks will probably make better players cringe quite a bit, but they seem to work nicely for casual play.

Like the collection of Invasion decks, you can have all decks built from a full collection (3x Core Sets, 1x everything else) without needing to switch cards.

Unlike Call of Cthulhu, the W:I Core Set (and the Ulthuan expansion) contained 2 or 3 copies of several cards, so it all adds up and you actually can physically make all 25 decks at once.
