If I'm running a 1G out of Newcastle, can I count the mine in Durham toward the port bonus?

It seems like a straight forward yes when I look at the rules, but there's enough doubt in my mind that I'd just like to confirm. Something about starting on a tile with no revenue. Thanks.

Yes.

Think of it as carrying stuff (coal) to a port for export - and dropping some off in a city along the way. So you need a mine, a port and a city (so you have a token on the route). The 'bonus' is for exporting the coal.

Or just dropping by the pub for a pint.
