For the third year running!

Inspired by the chocolate milk tasting thread, the beer thread, the scotch-tasting thread, and more: an exchange for people who like locally-roasted craft coffee.

When I travel around, I love partaking in local coffee shops, sampling everything from pour-overs to cortados. So why not amass a bunch of gaming and coffee nerds together in Dallas and see if they want to swap bags of coffee?

Why?
With the influx of third-wave coffee shops over the last decade, the coffee culture has really taken off. More people are getting away from corporate places and learning how to make and brew coffee at home. By getting people from all over to participate, we can taste the roast profiles of different regions as interpreted by different roasters around the country (world). Also, it's sometimes difficult to get Stumptown, Portola, Topeca, Counter Culture, Intelligentsia, or Heart Roasters across the world.

What do I bring?
A sealed 12-16oz bag of whole coffee beans, fresh from your favorite local roaster. Let's make sure the roast dates are recent; we don't need any three-week old coffee to exchange.

Want to bring multiple bags? That's fine!

What don't I bring?
Pre-ground anything. Coffee from any chain. The leftover stuff you had at home.

This is not a coffee-tasting meet-up. As much as I would love to have a tasting, the gathering of kettle, grinder, scale, water supply, and actual brewing devices is a minor logistics nightmare I don't want to deal with.

Where?
Dennard room - Lobby Level

When?
Thursday from 8:30. Done by 9am.
(I have a game starting at 9am anyways. )

The swap will be open for 30 minutes and will go fairly quickly, thus negating the amount of time you are away from the gaming table or the demo booths. Everything will be done by random draw, but feel free to swap with people afterwards and do your own thing with what you get.

What do I do now?
Post below saying you're going to be there!
Post with what you're wanting to bring!
Build the hype machine!

Thanks for making this a super awesome event!

Wait we need to coordinate, we are both coming from Dayton. You do Boston Stoker and I'll do Ghostlight.

Go see Ben Kutcher at Harbinger Coffee! Wait, that's Fort Collins. D'oh.

Thinking on this, I'll likely bring something from Pilot again because they're so great. Might grab De Mello Palheta instead of Detour as my 2nd bag!

Great! I literally live down the street from Cultivar. It's an easy pickup.

I'd love to take part, but, well, this has got me feeling a bit conflicted.

Because I roast all of my coffee myself, but I do live awfully close to Counter Culture here in NC.

What would folks prefer? I can bring a bag of Counter Culture coffee or I can bring some that I've roasted.

As for my roasts, I typically prefer medium roasts, and I'm currently working my way through 20lbs of a Kenyan that's a real delight, full-bodied and rich. Also have new batches of Sumatran and Ethiopian in-bound as well that'll be here next week.

Counter Culture is great, of course, and if anyone would prefer a particular varietal from there, I'm happy to deliver!

Why not both if you're able to?
