If we are going to require voting id's to vote then
* Voting I.D. offices must be opened in minority areas.
* Voting I.D. offices must be open outside of working hours.
* Voting I.D. offices must be open more than 1 day every 3 months.
* Voter I.D. cards should be free.

Requiring voting i.d.'s and then closing offices in minority areas, restricting their hours to a subset of the working day, and closing them for 8 months out of the year should be considered a civil rights crime and the states should be fined enormously and forced to provide voter i.d.s under penalties of increasingly larger fines.

Hmmm. I wonder if querying people wealthy enough to own home computers and with enough leisure time and money to indulge in a hobby like boardgaming will lead to a skewed poll?

We're on a board game website.

The affluence involved with being involved with board games means you probably own a car.

Ergo, you have a driver's license.

Quote:
In 2009, 87 percent of the driving-age population (age 16 and over) have a license.

Poll is meaningless; Mac points out the requirements to have a good voter ID system.

Which I'm all in favor of! Though I think it's a waste of resources, this is a democracy, and enough people are concerned about voter fraud to where if we want to pay for a bunch of offices to support the ID system, I'm fine with levying taxes to do so.

Are you?

At least in my city, not on weekends or federal holidays.

At least it skews towards good people.

(You could infer from this that rather than saying that board gamers are good, I am instead saying that poor people are bad. Not so! I'm only saying all non-gamers should be summarily executed, regardless of their socioeconomic status.)

I didn't see him say anything about Voter ID, I just saw him ask if you had a government ID or not.

That might have been his aim of course.

Driving is not a constitutional right and no the DMV does not have hours suited to working people.

Then you havnt researched the subject, you havnt read my prior posts on the subject here, and you havnt watched the john oliver videos on this subject where he says the same thing.

I also posted studies showing systematically lower tdl availability in minority areas in states with voter id laws such as texas and arkansas.

---
That being said, do you agree those are reasonable requirements for voter id if a state is going to require voter id?

Offices open during non work hours and free to voters.

Citation needed.
A very good citation would show a DMVs website listing hours as February 1, June 1, September 1, and December 1, as the only days that it is open.

You should, it's rather appalling.

This is the reason people are against voter ID -- it's not because it's a bad idea per se, it's because the implementation purposefully makes it harder for people without resources to vote.

Gosh, why is it only limiting hours on the October of an election year?

What a coincidence!

(In complete fairness, this might be to increase voter access. )
