Hello all,

I have seen a comparative between the original and the expansion/standalone after life.
How would you compare Last Rites with the other two and which one should I choose to buy first?

- I play with my wife.
- Not too much conflict involved.
- A more strategical experience.

Thank you!

my opinion >>>

first: Afterlife -- more easy going than original, example: easier to bring back sacrificed (trashed) cards into play

second: Original

third: Last Rites -- very powerful cards that are used more optimally when you're familiar with the game

While I haven't actually played with Last Rites I did flip through them this weekend and I agree with the above poster about the order at which to try the game.

Totally agree with James.

Last Rites has a lot of cards that seem to benefit your opponent as much as yourself and have to be set up for correctly.

Also there are different basic cards which are less straight forward than those in the first two games.

Mirko,

Given your "not too much conflict" requirement, After Life would probably be the better choice. Another way to go would be to get both the original and After Life, and then tune a sweet combination of the two.

AEG has some suggested ways to combine decks here: https://www.alderac.com/valleyofthekings/valley-of-the-kings...
It includes a "Nice and Sweet" suggested set.

Last Rites is my favorite of the three, but I have 21 plays of VotK, 9 plays of Afterlife, and 7 plays of Last Rites.

Last Rites might be more complex than the others, but it's still a pretty easy game to learn.

I know some people are conflict adverse. My group is malevolent and conflict orientated. Which version would be the best for us?

The original...or add the Witch from Dominion, and there you go. devil
Seriously, the first has more conflict, Afterlife and Last Rites less so.
