Hi there,

Looking for suggestions for good solo games that I can play on my iPad.
I have played Hostage Negotiator, Die Legenden von Andor: Chada & Thorn, Flash Point: Fire Rescue – Fire Academy Challenge, Zombicide: Black Plague, Vast: The Crystal Caverns and Mage Knight Board Game solo using the real games, but sometimes I like to just hang back on the couch (or in bed) and still enjoy a puzzle solo game challenge, for which the iPad works great. But none of those mentioned above are available as an app on the iPad.

Have only found Ghost stories and Pandemic so far as solo games (or co-ops that can be played fine by one person, playing multiple characters or just one) that do work on the iPad, but am done with those.
Any other good options out there?

Grtz,
Olaf

Pathfinder is great and you can play the first few adventures for free. So good I've given away my game and just play on the iPad now. Much less shuffling and setup is effortless

Maybe Maquis is what you're looking for?

Forbidden Desert and Forbidden Island are also on the iPad.

My favorites to play on the iPad are:

Alien Frontiers (sadly, it seems to be no longer available)
Ascension: Deckbuilding Game
Lords of Waterdeep
Pathfinder Adventure Card Game
Summoner Wars
Warhammer Quest

There are a few others I've looked at but haven't bought yet, like Chainsaw Warrior and Small World.

Carcassonne and Galaxy Trucker are both very well-done on the iPad and have solo campaigns.

Really looking for a game that was originally meant to have solo play as an option (so BGG entry should say 1-X players), not for games with a solo campaign on iPad. (I have played most of the other games mentioned on my iPad, but generally find myself preferring playing those games in real life against human opponents)

Pathfinder, Maquis and Forbidden Desert sound like great suggestions, thank you guys!

(Warhammer Quest and Forbidden Island would be good too, but I own both of those board games, and have played them quite a bit already; prefer something new)

Ah, good suggestion! Pathfinder is (or maybe now was...) on my list of potential purchases for regular boardgames. Definitly will try the app version now, thanks.

Didn't know Maquis had an app, thanks! (Actually looked into Maquis as a print and play solo option in the past, but havnt gotten to making it, this is much easier )

Yes, I have looked into that, but the whole Ctulhu theme just doesnt get me excited. Plus a friend of mine owns it and I promised to try it with her some time. Will wait and see what I think after that session.

A couple great app implementations that I like are the ones for Battlelore Second Edition (app is called "Battlelore Command") and the one for Splendor.

Some of the cooperative games like Pandemic and Forbidden Island have good iPad implementations. You can play as many players as you want just don't do the pass and play. Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, Tsuro, and Catan all also have good iPad versions with pretty decent AI.

Playing against the AI on Star Realms will last a while if you've not played the game before. Start on easy until you master it, then increase. I like it a lot better than more complex board game implementations.

I don't like playing against the computer, that doesn't feel like a board game but like a computer game.
(That's why I stated above looking for games that were meant to be played solo)
Do own Star Realms, not a big fan to be honest.

Tried Marquis, but that seems to be too much luck based.
Tried to try Pathfinder but it keeps crashing on my iPad2 :-(
Will give forbidden desert a try...

Just wanted to point out: did you know you can look at the upcoming patrol deck in Maquis? You click on the leftmost icon of the set of three at the top. Until I discovered this, I too thought it was completely random (and impossible, and frustrating) as a result!

Agreeing with others. My devices are full of nothing but board game apps and board game-like games, yet Elder Sign has most of my play time. It's solidly different from the cardboard version and the effects like sound and animation enhance it more than any other board game conversion I've played.
