It looks like 3rd party candidate Evan McMullin has a real shot at winning Utah.

I found this interesting written by a Christian non-mormon:

Mormons’ Consciences Have Put White Evangelicals To Shame This Election

Quote:
Evangelical support for Trump ostensibly peaked in July at 78% and has declined some since, but nearly two thirds of white Evangelicals say they are still supporting Trump. And this is after the video recently surfaced of Trump bragging about using his celebrity status to molest female strangers. Evangelicals have designated themselves as Values Voters, a name entirely belied by that one statistic. Moreover, Governor Mike Pence, Trump’s acclaimed Evangelical running mate has bent over backwards to make Trump digestible to his fellow Bible believers, saying they should forgive Trump’s abusive tendencies despite Trump’s continued patterns of hateful and misogynistic speech.

Quote:
His fellow Mormons have expressed in polls and in statements their revulsion for Trumpism. In a survey this past week among Utah Mormons only 38% said they were supporting Trump, with a higher percentage of them saying they have an unfavorable view of Trump than of the perennially unpopular Hillary Clinton. In our hyper-partisan times, a Republican candidate getting only 38% of the Utah Mormon vote is a veritable castigation.

38% support among Mormons for Trump is still way too high but it is quite remarkable in our partisan environment.

To summarize the 538 article, he wins Utah while (improbably) Hillary doesn't make it to 270. The election goes into the House, which declares McMullin the winner in preference to Trump.

Also, this kind of election is what the Electoral College is for. While States have in theory tied their hands, I'm not sure those laws can actually be enforced on the Electors. Democrats seem okay with Hillary. Republicans might revolt from Trump, especially if they don't think he's got a chance anyway.

Could be interesting. In the Chinese sense.

This is on the heels(-ish) of the city's biggest AM station dropping Sean Hannity. KSL Radio is owned by the LDS Church. And in 2010, the station decided to drop Hannity and gave rather specific reasons. His tone was too abrasive and divisive. Now, whether it was the church who dictated this to the station (not too likely) or the station just picking up on the tone of him in the midst of the Tea Party Revolution, the station decided they didn't want to be party to that kind of ugly rhetoric.

Six years later, we see by how people are voting that they made the right choice. In Utah, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. And stay the hell off our ballots.

This has been in the air for around two weeks now... good to see some solid #s on this situation.
