I really love the game and couldn't get my two boys to play again today, so I spent some time thinking up a solo variant and it works quite well as far as I'm concerned. :3

You build two homes and have to add identical room layouts to them while balancing their scores. I documented my two playthroughs and made a quick, dirty PDF (with tons of pictures) that explains the rules in detail:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-a9rnjYzUMCX1ZrTUJWcm50TH...

It's a 9 MB file with about one page of text plus lots of images on a 5 page total - I can surely reduce the file size a little more, but I won't have time for that until next week. So, if anyone would like to try it out now, better not use a mobile connection! ;)

Would love to get some feedback should anyone give it a try! :)

I was thinking a possible solo variant would be to roll a die (or have a stack of cards numbered 2-5, that would work better) to tell which two columns to "erase" each turn similar to the two-player game where you have to swipe a column of cards. Then you could choose from the remaining cards. It would be beat-your-high-score, of course.
