OK, I'll be the daft one.

What the heck is Kallax? Google suggests it's shelving from Ikea?!

Correct. A favorite gameshelf for a lot of people.

Yes — it's shelving that is often used by boardgamers and vinyl collectors, if you google "kallax boardgames", you'll find hundreds of images of boardgames on shelves. It (or it's predecessor Expedit) are the shelves Tom Vasel uses for example - and that you can usually see behind him in his YouTube reviews.

When it was announced that Expedit was going to be replaced many boardgame news sources reported on it as boardgame news, including the Dice Tower.

That's a shame but the box is too long anyways and it would stick out from the shelf so I'm storing it on top of it.

One for my wider compartment (I left out one of the dividers in the top row) so it has some excellent company with Galaxy Trucker Anniversary Edition and Catacombs.

I just build my kallax. I left two vertical shelves out in different spots to accommodate for longer game boxes like MvM and legendary encounters. You just have to cut down some of the pegs. Not sure if you want to go through the trouble of taking it back apart now though.

Now I feel totally stupid for not figuring that out myself.
I guess it's because all my current games fit in the normal shelves.

I think it wouldn't be so bad to take off the top part and remove a divider or two from the top part. I'll definitely have to check it out at least. I have the 5x5 version so moving it again and putting it on the side is not an option.

Thanks for the tip!

You got it! No worries. I have the 5x5 as well. It's amazing lol. Yeah, taking off the top and removing one of the top vertical shelves ought to do the trick.

Riot continues with near perfection. Not only do they produce a great boardgame, but they carefully size it just slightly too large for Tom Vasel to put on his shelves. I couldn't admire them more, at this moment.

+1 for removing one of the vertical dividers. If MvM is the only game you have that's too big for the Kallax, now you have an excuse to buy Fortune & Glory!

What are some other really good games with large dimension boxes? I have the space. Might as well try to fill it at some point

I bought their billy bookcase system which I really enjoy. I put the angled unit in a corner and it stores my larger/oversized boxes with out any issues. Worth looking in to for those wanting options other than the kallax

NORREBO!!! seriously keep an eye out on craigslist for the shelves by far the best if you can find them, and it fits the bigger boxed games

This is okay news for me, because my 4x4 Kallax is already too full with games. I have a couple other games (like the much loved BGG game Cards Against Humanity) that are on top already. Mechs vs Minions will have to join them.

Might not be as widely available as IKEA (at least not under that name), but I have 5 (soon to be 6) of those and they work out extremely well (tall, not too deep, some boards can be placed at various heights, default height/depth is a perfect match for your typical FFG sized box).

Oh, that's nice knowing it can be done. I'll do it with the next one as I won't take apart the one I have.
