The release of Papa Paolo in Essen was quite a succes. Nevertheless some people had questions about theme and gameplay. Here they are.
Q1: How can we see the difference between normal houses and coloured red houses?
A1: Each coloured house has an extra attribute. a satelite dish on each green house, a chimney on each blue house, an antenna on each red house and a roof window on each yellow house. So if you have difficulties seeing the difference between red and normal houses, check for antennas.
Q2: How does taking and placing city tiles fit the theme?
A2: City tiles are concidered to be important persons. The colour of the tile defines his expertise, the number of houses the difficulty to please him and the roads how difficult it is to reach him. So if you place a worker on a city tile, you try to convince this person to order pizza's in your pizzeria's or you put your energy in taking an other action. If you place a city tile in your district, you add this order to your planning. So taking a city tile and place it in your district is thematically convincing a new person to be your client and ad his order to your planning. Working with city tiles and buildings (adresses)just looked more beautifully.
Q3: What about theme, bribes and progression?
A3: Your clients (city tiles) are important people and members of different high society clubs, that is why they are ranked in rows and collumns where each row and collumn presents a different club. These club pay players to please there members. When delivering pizza's you learn from these persons, so you get more experienced.
Q4: Bidding seems a little bit flat!
A4: In their first games, players usually place low bids. Rather next to each other than outbidding each other. They want to keep their monney for buying pizza's. Experienced players on the other hand usually place higher bids. This is necessary in order to reach top scores. Being the first or second to choose an investment tile is quite important as it opens more options for workerplacement in the next round. This is also true for being the start player for the next round. Starting with a high bid, discourages other players to outbid you. Starting with a low bid and being outbid usually ends in you paying more than you expected. This is specially true in a two player game.
Q5: Why can't I bid in a lower row after being outbid?
A5: Bidding is investing. You make a promise to invest a certain amount of monney in order to make progression an to pay for delevery services. If your starting bid is 8£, you just can't go back to 1£ anymore.
Q6: What is your personal topscore?
A6: My personal topscore is 37.
25 pizza's delivered, expert level in gold and delivery track, diversety bonus of 8, no undelevered pizza's. 25+4+8-0 = 37
