What are your Mount Rushmore of Deck Builders?

You may give all four answers or just add to the list. I'll try to keep up with the running total and see what we come up with after a while. I will suggest keeping it to game in which deck building is the main mechanic.

Here are mine to get started...

1) Dominion
2) Legendary Encounters: An Alien Deck Building Game
3) Eminent Domain
4) Mystic Vale

Have fun!

Are we choosing games based on their influence or how much we like them?

If it's by how influential they are:

1. Dominion
2. Ascension
3. Marvel Legendary
4. Mage Knight: The Board Game

As for my top 4:

1. Core Worlds
2. Shadowrun: Crossfire
3. Legendary Encounters
4. Hyperborea (Or City of Iron, if bag-builders don't count)

Dominion
Ascension
Pathfinder (changed from Ascension after thinking about it some more)
Valley of the Kings
A Few Acres of Snow

One that could jump into the four soon is Tyrants of the Underdark.

No, I think it's the ones that look best from a long distance.

Star Realms
Tyrants Of The Underdark
Legendary Encounters Alien

No fourth, unless maybe Pathfinder Adventures, but that's not quite right I don't think.

Trains(Rising Sun)
Legendary Encounters

Dominion

EmDo isn't a pure deckbuilder and BH:2045 needs more time. Star Realms I like more than Dominion, but I just don't see how Dominion isn't on there.

1) Dominion
2) Star Realms
3) Valley of the Kings
4) Fantastiqa

Dominion is hands down my favourite. Star Realms has grown and grown on me and I am shocked it has overtaken Valley of the Kings. I think VotK is a better game, but the fun of Star Realms plus a little more to it than meets the eye has seen it edge past. It has no chance to catch Dominion!

This thread reminds me, that I really must try Trains!

My top three above all count among my favourite games. Love them!

Could be an interesting list to see now and how it looks again in 20 years. Since hobbyist board gaming is still sort of in its infancy, be neat to see what sort of deck builders come along over the next 5, 10, 20 years that influence what deckbuilding can be.

Deck builders are my favorite kind of games, and I had five that I wanted to include, but will play by the rules.

1. Dominion
2. Marvel Legendary
3. Star Realms
4. Baseball Highlights 2045 or Valley of the Kings

(Yeah, I cheated, but I really couldn't decide.)

So far...
Dominion-11
Star Realms-9
Legendary Encounters-4
Marvel Legendary-3
Valley of the Kings-3
Core Worlds-3
Thunderstone/Thunderstone Advanced-3
Pathfinder-2
Baseball Highlights 2045-2
Eminent Domain-2
A Few Acres of Snow-1
Study in Emerald-1
Mystic Vale-1
Hyperborea-1
Quarriors-1
Hero Realms-1
Shadowrun: Crossfire-1
Tyrants of the Underworld-1

Not sure how Eminent Domain wouldn't count as a deck builder. Its the main mechanic in the game. But to each his own.

Most of my top 10 is deckbuilders, and more of them populate the ranks just outside the top 10 as well. So limiting to just 4? Eep.

1. For the Crown (Second edition)
2. Tyrants of the Underdark
3. Star Realms
4. Core Worlds

Shadowrun: Crossfire and Foe Hunters both have a good chance at deposing #4 once I get them and play them.

Thunderstone (my first DBG)
Resident Evil (my fav and most played, unless counting Thunderstone Classic, Advance and Numenera all as one)
Marvel Legendary
A Study in Emerald (1st ed, you know, the real one, gives at least partially the DBG-vibe, starting cards being pretty strong and lack of deck-thinning in general go against that vibe)
