Hey all,

I was hoping to use some group-think to come up with a better name for the game concept that I have been working on.

The game is about mining for gems and using those gems to buy the most artifacts in an auction house. Dice are used as the gems and represent the currency and engine of the game. Players start with 6 basic dice (gray) which will go into that player's cup/bag. The players also each start with Mine Shaft tile in front of them (i.e. their home base) and they will expand their mine over time with additional tiles (some being gem cache tiles, others being tunnel tiles).

Each turn, players pull out 3-5 dice out of their cup, roll them, and use those dice to perform actions: activating cards, expand their mine via purchasing tiles, moving a miner meeple within the mine to retrieve new gems (i.e. new dice), and bidding in the auction house. As their mine expands, new colored dice will be found (red, blue, green) which will be added to the players cup. Based on the types of gems collected, each player's cup will contain different colors of dice as the game progresses. As mentioned, players can also use the colored dice that are pulled to make bids on artifact cards in the auction house in the center of the table. The winner is the first to acquire three artifacts from the auction house. The game is essentially a bag-building, tile-laying game with simultaneous play.

The mining theme is really coming through in the game and I'm hoping to place the game within a fantasy-like setting. The idea would be for each player to be represented by a mining company/guild of a different race (dwarven mining guild, goblins mining company, etc), each competing to win the most artifacts for their guild. Below is an image of the prototype in a game session...

My working title has been 'Dice Mining', but that doesn't have the ring that I am hoping for. So I'd like to ask for some assistance - help me name the game!

Thanks!

Ere is a common ( comedy cockoney) version of here, and it is a pun (as in Mines of more ere).

I'm not sure whether it'll help with the name, but perhaps the theme...

You start the game with grey 6-sided dice.
There's a sort of crystal which naturally forms silver/grey (or perhaps golden) cubes : iron pyrite, or fool's gold
See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrite for description and a nice image.

So, um...

Fool's dice
Fool's gems
Dice mine

1. The use of willpower to overcome physical problems.

So for a name, how about "Mine Over Matter"?

Good luck with your game.

Every game must have an obligatory Shakespeare option and thus my suggestion is:

One yard below their mines.
