So the state department attempted to get the FBI to alter classification of emails on Hillarys server, by offering things in exchange.
And Comey wonders why people think the FBI is a corrupt POS now...

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/10/20/clinton-server-em...

Quote:
"[Redacted] indicated he had been contacted by PATRICK KENNEDY, Undersecretary of State, who had asked his assistance in altering the email's classification in exchange for a 'quid pro quo,'" the 302 states. "[Redacted] advised that in exchange for marking the email unclassified, STATE would reciprocate by allowing the FBI to place more Agents in countries where they are presently forbidden."

Wouldn't that only be the case if the quid pro quo actually occurred? If it is all as reported, then State is out of line for making the offer. Why is the FBI out of line for not agreeing to it?

But...

Fox News report wrote:
The FBI and State Department both emphasize that no "quid pro quo" took place. The email classification was not changed in the end, and no additional FBI agents were assigned overseas.

So either you believe the FBI or a State Department (Kennedy) manager who incidentally was in charge of security at diplomatic outposts and had been with State for four decades. To me, it sounded he was engaging in CYA.

Well, that and the fact that they handed out immunities like candy on Halloween and destroyed evidence on behalf of the people they are supposed to be investigating.

But yeah, the FBI has now confirmed that, like almost every federal agency, it has been totally captured by the DNC.

One wonders what they had on Comey. One wonders if they needed to have anything or if he was just an obedient little sheep from the start.

In hindsight that airport tarmac meeting between Bill and Loretta Lynch looks like it was probably about more than just showing off photos of grandchildren as they claim.

It's all rigged, Drew. That's why there are hardly any Republicans in Congress -- or state legislatures or governorships. Yep, the DNC has everything under its thumb.

Sometimes you seem like you actually have the capacity for thought.

Other times you're just an ass.

This is one of those other times.

Nice counter-argument. I expected "true PATRIOTS elect the right people, it's the power elite that suppress us!!!!"

If only there were a Republican rich enough to hire independent counsel to file lawsuits.

Patrick Kennedy from the State Dept. wanted to exercise typical State Dept. control over what was considered "classified" regarding their own emails and what wasn't. He phones the FBI, where Brian McCauley brought up the quid pro quo (he wanted to get 2 FBI jobs back which had been eliminated at the US embassy in Baghdad, and freely admits this) but when McCauley finds out the email in question is part of the FBI Benghazi investigation, he immediately puts the kibosh on any deal. Eventually the email is released, with one sentence redacted. No deal, no anything, no further questions.

As per usual, much ado about nothing.
And if anyone is really so shocked that government agencies interact with one another, then they really ought to brush up on US Government 101.

Those are just details. If you simply focus on the words Quid Pro Quo, FBI, State Department and Clinton and let people fill in their own details, it is so much more satisfying (and sells more ad time).

These are the things we know about; what are the activities and backroom communications we don't know about?

Smoke, fire, and all of that.

It's such a serious charge that smoke isn't enough. Is it enough to ask questions? Probably. Is it enough to say that the FBI is no better than a banana republic military willing to be bribed into ignoring tons of cocaine growing and shipping from their country? I don't think so.

Do you feel the same way about the payoffs Trump made to stop investigations into Trump U?

Please step right around my smoke machine. Now my good sir may I interest you in one of these fine name brand fire extinguishers? It certainly is smoky around here isn't it?

Charles Krauthammer's take:

Quote:
The most sensational disclosure was the proposed deal between the State Department and the FBI in which the FBI would declassify a Hillary Clinton email and State would give the FBI more slots in overseas stations. What made it sensational was the rare appearance in an official account of the phrase “quid pro quo,” which is the currently agreed-upon dividing line between acceptable and unacceptable corruption.

This is nonetheless an odd choice for most egregious offense. First, it occurred several layers removed from the campaign and from Clinton. It involved a career State Department official (he occupied the same position under Condoleezza Rice) covering not just for Clinton but for his own department.

Second, it’s not clear which side originally offered the bargain. Third, nothing tangible was supposed to exchange hands. There was no proposed personal enrichment — a Rolex in return for your soul — which tends to be our standard for punishable misconduct.

WikiLeaks reveals Obama emails to Podesta before he took office
And finally, it never actually happened. The FBI turned down the declassification request.

In sum, a warm gun but nonsmoking. Indeed, if the phrase “quid pro quo” hadn’t appeared, it would have received little attention. Moreover, it obscures the real scandal — the bottomless cynicism of the campaign and of the candidate.

Yes, but Krauthammer writes for the Washington Post; he's a liberal who hates Trump. Not a real conservative in the slightest!!

Clinton Ally Aided Campaign of FBI Official’s Wife

http://www.wsj.com/articles/clinton-ally-aids-campaign-of-fb...

"The political organization of Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, an influential Democrat with longstanding ties to Bill and Hillary Clinton ... donated $467,500 to the 2015 state Senate campaign of Dr. Jill McCabe, who is married to Andrew McCabe, now the deputy director of the FBI. The Virginia Democratic Party, over which Mr. McAuliffe exerts considerable control, donated an additional $207,788 worth of support to Dr. McCabe's campaign in the form of mailers, according to the records. That adds up to slightly more than $675,000 to her candidacy from entities either directly under Mr. McAuliffe's control or strongly influenced by him.

The figure represents more than a third of all the campaign funds Dr. McCabe raised in the effort."
