I'm putting together a foam core insert for The Great War base game and want to leave room for the Tanks Expansion, which I don't yet have. Can anyone give me an idea of the size of the components in 3 dimensions? i.e. what size cubby hole do I need to comfortably store each tank and the artillery separately?

I understand this to be the "inventory", is this about right?

36 hex tiles
6 tanks
2 artillery
28 rectangular tiles (same as current wires)
20 small tank marker
4 German captured tank markers
2 summary sheets and rule book

And British whippet tanks (3) sold separately

Any insight appreciated!

Read the rulebook, plan for all contingencies, and…read the rulebook again.

Keep in mind that the barrels on the models are known to be a bit fragile. So each dimension I list (length/width/height) has an added .125" (1/8") to accommodate a "clear space" around the model. This should allow for a fairly snug fit inside a bay with no more than 1/16" to spare on any side.

British Male: ~3.25" x ~2.125" x ~1.25"

British Female: ~3.25" x ~1.625" x ~1.25"

Whippet: ~2.5" x ~1.25" x ~1.25"

A7V: ~3.125" x ~1.5" x ~1.5"

Field Guns (German and British): ~3" x ~1" X ~.875"
The length includes the positioning handle at the end of the German gun.

In the Files section I offer a suggestion for storing vehicles (and the other bits, if folks like) using the foam blocks that come with the Tank Expansion, 1-ply (or 1/8" corrugated) cardboard, and white glue. Each bay in that example comes out to about 3.25" x 2.5" x 1.5"
