My clue's pointing this way...

I'm not looking for a game with some bad mechanics, or a game that was a little overhyped.

I want the game who's lack of effort, replayability, and general respect for the player/purchaser combined with overhyped marketing filled you with a maniacal desire to literally watch the game burn.

A recent experience with Exploding Kittens was my first run in with this feeling.

For me it would be Munchkin. Mainly because the 563 expansions would ensure I could keep warm by the fire for days!

Not me, but one of my groups had this with zombies!!!.

For me it was SPI's old WW3 game.

Cheap, nasty looking and lazy with a system (and game design assumptions) that just annoyed the crap out of me.

Technically, this game was only set on fire and wasn't thrown in the trash.

I can't think it would be any better to eat than to play...

I would think it would be Magic, just because of how popular it is, especially with kids, and how many cards people have.

Among the BGG members it might (soon) be Pandemic Legacy, just because it is trash once you played through the campaign.

Not even after the Barbeque?

The question states "Thrown in the Trash and Set on Fire" in that order, so thrown in the bin after burning doesn't count.

There was also that clown who burned his Kickstarter for Salem. Why not just sell/trade/give it away?

I was going to say this, but I thought two "Technically..."'s in a row was a bit much. Thankfully one can always count on the Internet to argue minor nuances of language and grammar.

Some games are so bad you'd have to pay people to take them.

Some say that when the moon is right, you can still see the glow from the fire over the city lights.

[it was either that, or some pedantic answer]

Meh..whatever...
I basically went by the OPs comment:

Trivial Pursuit is the game I would set on fire. High amount of roll & move. I've seen a couple games where a player (or team) has never had to give up a turn. I've also seen games where a player (or team) answers multiple questions right in a row and never progresses towards the goal of the game. About the only thing missing from the OP's criteria would be "overhyped marketing".

I literally threw Pandemic Legacy in the dumpster bin during the 6th or 7th month ... brought it directly into the house and slid everything directly off the table into it. I hated that game. As for burning things, I just burned "The Shadow over Innsmouth" the other day by HP Lovecraft (first time ever burning something from anger) because it was just offensively terrible, and I had to get my revenge after wasting time reading it. I put Sorry, Clue, Monopoly, Scrabble, etc. on the curb one day and they were actually taken in less than 5 minutes.. and one time I asked about 10 people to take my copy of Time's UP! Title Recall because it was so bad.. gave it away for free when I sold a game. Sucker.

Some games are worse than that, but have minis and sell well.

HAHAHA!!! I had to play this piece of $4!7 in highschool at my friend's house with him and his Mom. It was so traumatic, I forgot about this game and locked it away in my subconscious until now...
