Character Unique Assets are related to the Cthulhu Mythos, but what about the investigators we 're playing with? Where did they came from in the first place?

Created by FFG as part of their Arkham Horror Files universe. They are not from any of the mythos literature, unless you count the FFG novels which include them.

Well, Silas Marsh comes close, as the Marsh family, specifically Obed Marsh, played a part in The Shadow over Innsmouth.

Some of them are taken from the original Arkham Horror board game from 1987.

AFAIK, Harvey Walters first appeared as the example character in Call of Cthulhu RPG. A quick google puts him in that from 1981 http://www.yog-sothoth.com/topic/28087-harvey-walters-then-a...

Some of the game's characters are inspired by other fictional characters.

Monterey Jack is the game's Indiana Jones, while Joe Diamond is inspired by Bogart's Sam Spade from The Maltese Falcon.

I almost forgot: the background of Gloria Goldberg, the author, mirrors H. P. Lovecraft himself, as Gloria also writes horror stories which are inspired/based on her nightmares. While Gloria is a successful and respected author, Lovecraft on the other hand sadly never witnessed his breakthrough and huge mainstream success during his lifetime.

William Yorick, the gravedigger, is also an obvious reference to Shakespeare's Hamlet. Also note: William Yorick WE William Shakespeare.
