Hi from Germany,
never stop to modify and improve a great game system with a huge potential regarding its "simulation" component.
Here we go.
Scenario 19: A brave team is to find, fix and kill a "master" zombie who is preparing a most dangerous assault once he or she has assembled the undead.
The game board.
Not a big one for this mission. But ...
First step: Modification of the terrain.
A couple of Terrain tokens changes the fixed game boards. The gray side up tokens are the first group of Surprise tokens. Surprise tokens will be revealed as the survivors move adjacent to them.
Second step: Special locations (actually the four locations of the WALKING DEAD game).
All those counters must be checked. The team cannot win if those locations were not fully explored. The objectives are to gain information and stocks about allies, food and ammo.
What will be encountered is "hidden" in these card decks.
Third step: A whole bunch of Surprise tokens will be added to the game board next.
The given scenario modifies the standard procedure a bit. The zombie leader is well hidden somewhere in this area. The team must find some intel by contacting survivors hiding in this area. It might take some time. The longer, the more enemies will show up.
The tokens were shuffled and placed.
The mission's main target is placed next to the game board.
Fourth step: Determination of any Safe Houses for the team.
Good news: There are actually two. Bad news: They are located in the midst of the most dangerous area. Let's see if the team requires those shelters of safety at all.
Fifth step: Part of the mission are 6 objectives, randomly determined buildings that must be entered and checked.
That's the big one. It might become a time consuming job to declare this object "Clear!"
That's also not a small target. The small building next to it must also be checked.
Another small objective.
Small but far away.
The game board now looks like this.
The team should move very carefully through this maze. Danger is lurking behind each corner.
Sixth step: Another random process resulted in two buildings probably guarded (there might be very nasty sentries ...).
Note: There might be sentries blocking the two Safe Houses. As if the game system had known this ...
The game board is ready now to place the team and ... the first group of undead.
The team, V. Wilde and T. Ray, were equipped.
Using data cards speeds up game play significantly.
Daytime is determined.
At start of the mission, 2 zombies are roaming the area. In front of the Safe Houses ...
All scenario parameters are listed here.
The game is ready to start.
