How can I distribute character stats evenly from how strong a character is to how much life they have?

I am in the middle of making a board game and I was just curious as to how gamers create characters with specific attributes.

How much have you studied similar games to what you are creating?

Isn't that,

Life + the Universe + everything = 42?

I'm sure you could lump strength in with 'Everything', but don't forget the Universe. Please.

Basically my game the characters will all have 4 moves.

Power attack- Damage given to the enemy
Evade- Dodges enemies attack
Strategic - Help team mate by boosting his attack by 2 or helping team mate evade an attack
Magic- Health back to full or safely escaping battle

Now I had created the characters and gave them all different health points as well as power, but when I played with few family members some characters were a bit too strong and some were very weak.

So what I was asking is is there a way to even the attributes out?

By the end of today I aim to take picture of my paper version prototype of my game. Please let me know what you think of it and how i can improve the game play once I have posted it up.

Keep tweaking and test playing, that will be the best way if you want to make them asymmetric but balanced.

Since each attribute affects play in a different way you'll have to assign a cost for each point in an attribute, possibly on a sliding scale.

Ask yourself questions such as "is an extra point in Power Attack worth the same as an extra point in Magic?" or "is a low Evade score useless but a high Evade score almost unbeatable?"

Then playtest the values. Then re-evaluate. Rinse, repeat, until you're happy with the results.

I don't think there's any quick, logical solution to this sort of problem, just testing.

Hi Thank you for your advice, I have been play testing my game and tweaking it as I go, I just wanted to see if there was an easier way of allocating attributes haha.

Unfortunately, it's a bit wrong. It's not a "+" sign, but a "x".
Strength x life = 42.

For example, if you have "6" in Strength, you will get a "9" for life, for the result of 42.

Interestingly this is correct in base 13.
