Werewolf Legacy Red Box- October



You tear open the box in excitement. You loved Risk Legacy when it came out, taking over and permanently altering the world in a fight for dominance. Next came Pandemic Legacy: Season 1, where you and your friends took on the CoDA virus trying to save the world from destruction. Now, you need to take on the deadly Werewolf threat every month in 2016.

You rip open the box to find the following items:

Rulebook

Welcome to Werewolf Legacy! This is a series of 12 games starting the second week of the month every month in 2016. Each game will be directly influenced and based on what happened in previous months.

Players
We will try to keep the player roster consistent from game to game. This does not mean that if you play Game 1, you are required to play any future games. This means that, before the games go into signup, players that participated in previous games will be given a chance to pre-sign up to guarantee their spot in the next game.

There is ALIGNMENT ONLY reveal!

Roles
This will be based on Phel's Your Own Choice and Your Own Choice Redux.
Team Evil:
1x Werewolf** - Standard werewolf with Stickers: Brutal, Aux Seer, and Black Hat, OPG Role View, Unknown.
1x Werewolf- Standard werewolf with Stickers: Delayed Reveal, Mayor, Bulletproof, Choose Your Own (Lock out of Dead Chat/Delayed Reveal/Chat), Sticker Thief.
1x Wolf Cub** - Knows the werewolves and promotes on first wolf death. Also has a Witch Block. Sticker: Tough, Gunwielding, Alpha, White Hat, Unknown.
1x Mimic- Views each night to learn full role and can reveal as any of the roles they have viewed. N0 villager villager view. Additionally, they have a tough until they view any of the following roles: Seer, Martyr, Werewolf, Promoted Wolf Cub. Stickers: NK Awareness, Attribute Mimic. The mimic can only change their reveal at Dusk, right before lynch is processed (but may set any "on death" effects of the role they will reveal as if any exist), and they can only gain one kill of any type (brutal/dead chat/gunwielding) from their attribute mimic ability.
Character Assassin- Aux Evil- Each night, you can choose to view for Alignment or Good Special (hits on Seer, Martyr, Governor, Good Werewolf, and Tinker Villager). Each night, you also set as assassination target and sticker. The first time each game that you get a match (your target has the sticker), they die*. The second time, the sticker is invalidated. After that, you learn whether or not they have that sticker. * Detoughs a tough person and doesn't go through bulletproof but still counts as using the kill. Stickers: Tough.

Team Good:
1x Werewolf- Good aligned werewolf that will lose their NK for the next night if they kill a Good. Stickers: Lover, 3 Shot Kills, Performance Anxiety.
1x Werewolf- Good aligned werewolf that will lose their NK for the next night if they kill a Good. Stickers: Lover, Tinker, 3 Shot Kills, and Bulletproof.
1x Alignment Seer: Views each night for Evil/Not Evil. Gets an N0 negative. Sticker: Parity.
1x Martyr: Picks someone each night to die in place of. Stickers: White Hat, Aux Seer, Gunsmith, Bodyguard.
1x Sacrificial Governor: Once per game, you can choose to kill yourself to pick the lynch target for that day. If you would be lynched, you must pick a voter to die along side you. Otherwise, you may pick anyone. Sticker: Gunshy, Conditional Brutal, Choose Your Own (White Hat/Bulletproof/Mayor), Chat Creation.
7x Villagers: No powers.

Legacy Mechanisms
There are three Legacy mechanisms that will be used throughout the series:
1) Evolving Roleset. Each game, the first three unique roles to die will receive stickers that add to/change their role for the next game. This means that all non-unique roles will have unique identifiers that will be unknown until after the game. (IE: There will be Werewolf 1 and Werewolf 2, though they won't know which is which.) After the game, everyone will learn which roles will be modified but not what stickers they received. See the Sticker Sheets for more information.
2) Month Bonuses. Each month, whichever team won the previous game will have a minor bonus the next game. This will be announced in the rules post for that month, so everyone will know what it is.
3) Conditional Envelopes. There is an assortment of envelopes in this box with specific conditions that need to be met for them to be opened. They fall into two categories: Immediate and Between Games. If an immediate condition is met, open that envelope immediately and do whatever it says. If a Between Games condition is met, the envelope will be opened at the end of the game. Whenever an envelope is opened, it will be announced to the thread that the conditions have been met and what impact it has on the game. If the conditions are something like "a player accidentally views someone dead", it will not be announced which role fulfilled those conditions.

Werewolf Game Rules
All standard rules and victory conditions apply.
- No quoting modchat or mod provided information.
- Conditional orders are accepted.
- Brutals are mandatory and will be randomized between members of your team if you don't have a valid order in.
- Don't be a dick.

Additional Rules

Stickers Defined:

When stickers are added to cards, all pre-existing stickers and conditions still apply. The only time those go away is when a role card is swapped out.

Unknown- One of the 3 roles each game that gets a mystery sticker on their card each game.

Cursed- This is a hidden trait on a villager card. If you are cursed and NKed by either set of wolves, you will be informed at Dawn. You have two choices: die and the evil wolves will get two night kills that night or live and become a werewolf. It's up to you. You will not be allowed to post to the thread until you decide that day. Posting to the thread will be considered choosing to live and become a werewolf, so be sure that you check your modchat if you are a villager and there are not the right number of kills.

Weak- This is a condition that some roles may gain across the series. If a role is weak, they die instead of the lynch leaders if they are in 2nd place by LHLV at Dusk.

Chat Creation- Pick someone to create a chat with for the next cycle.

Choose Your Own- You get three options of powers that target someone. Cannot repeat the same selection two nights in a row.
--- Evil Wolf- Give someone delayed reveal if they die the next cycle, lock someone out of dead chat for a cycle, standard witch block for that night
--- Governor- Make someone a White Hat for a cycle, make someone bulletproof for a cycle, make someone a Mayor for a cycle.

Pure Villager- When someone targets, you are told that you are the Pure Villager and who targeted you **Upgraded: and what they targeted you with. You will just be told that you are a villager before then. If you are night killed, the werewolves that killed you get a Rolling Night Kill the next night (including good werewolves).

Panic Attack- If you are in 2nd place LL at dusk, you will die as well.

Hollow- Dies if viewed by any role.

Medium- May send a 10 word message to a living player each night.

View from Dead Chat- Get a role view once in dead chat.

Sticker Thief- When this player dies, they swap the Sticker Thief sticker with someone that killed them. This does not happen if their death ends the game.

Black Hat- One level (full/alignment/no) of reveal lower, no result when viewed.

Black Hat x 2- Two levels of reveal lower, causes viewer to get no result the next night as well.

White Hat- One level (full/alignment/no) of reveal higher, full role when viewed.

White Hat + Tinker/Alpha- One level of reveal higher. Does not affect how they are viewed.

Bulletproof- Can only be lynched or NKed. Brutals and other types of kills do not work on them.

Dead Chat Kill- This is a OPG kill that is submitted as a night action from dead chat.

Brutal- Takes someone down with them when they die. **Mandatory**

Aux Seer- Views each night for "Aux Evil" or "Not Aux Evil". Gets a hit on non-aux tinkers.

Mayor- Vote strength of 2 instead of 1.

Delayed Reveal- Will reveal a cycle after they died (ie: Reveals on D2 if lynched on D1. Will just show as [killed ljtrigirl] on D1.)

NK Aware- Learns at dusk what the current Night Kill targets are.

Attribute Mimic- When set to reveal as a role with an attribute, takes on that attribute.

Tough- Survives first death.

Gunsmith- Gives out a gun each night from N1 on.

Gunwielding- Starts the game with a gun.

Conditional Brutal- Brutal if lynched, NKed, or killed by the Good Werewolves.

Bodyguard- The first time they save successfully, they don't die but do a standard bodyguard. At that point, they become a martyr but won't be notified when this happens.

Alpha- Gives "same team" view equivalent to the viewer.

Performance Anxiety- If viewed, they have the same result as being blocked (no actions can be taken).

Parity- Wins a 1v1 fight with a wolf (good), counts for evil parity (aux), or counts for double parity (wolf).

Gunshy- If they are given a gun, it is returned to the person that gave it to them. They also cannot be killed by a gun.

3 Shot Kills- The two good werewolves get 3 kills total (unless they die before they can use them). They can be used one per night as night kills or as brutals if they die before using all of them. If a good is hit with a night kill, the wolves cannot use a kill the next night. Each will be given a brutal order with the Tinker wolf gaining priority. So the options are: 0 NKs 2 Brutals, 1 NK 2 Brutals, 2 NKs Tinker Brutal, 3 NKs. Both brutals are considered mandatory if they haven't been used.





Other Rules:

Guns- Anyone that is given a gun may shoot it at any time by going: I shoot LJ. in the thread. Players must stop posting until it is resolved, any brutals/death contingent orders will be used at the time of the gun, and the person that shot should GM me to ensure expedient processing.

Punishments- With great power comes great responsibility, and the misuse of the power can result in a punishments. Punishments currently in play are:
- Neither silverbonds nor BerenCamlost can be Good Werewolves.
- gdapkus and stonecutter129 are not allowed to nightfall. If they do, their vote is worth 0.

Player Benefit- These do not happen often, but there are some Player Benefits, cards that modify the games for individual players and are not linked to a specific month's game. Should the player that receives the benefit replace out or stop participating in the series, tear up the card for that benefit.

SECRET CONDITION: Some envelopes will have secret conditions that must be met in order to activate them. There can only ever be two of these active at once. If you find a third unopened SECRET CONDITION envelope, tear up the lowest numbered one.

Rolling Nightkill- If anyone gets a rolling night kill, they put in two targets. If the first person targeted is a villager or aux evil, the second target will be killed instead.

Anything that would be opened because of an action that occurred due to a Mod RNG will not trigger an envelope opening.

Tinker Rules- Tinkers give opposite views from what they are. So if a tinker werewolf was viewed by an aux seer, they would get a hit. If the Mimic views the tinker, they will see them as a random living Werewolf, Promoted Wolf Cub, Martyr, or Seer. And they will lose their tough.

N0 Views- All roles get an N0 view. If it isn't listed, it's a negative.

Cake- There will be cake in this game. The cake starts with a random player and MUST be passed each night. It is a delicious triple layer dark chocolate confection with an amazing chocolate ganache. Prepared with love and chocolate. When you receive the cake you will spend the day eating a slice. Due to the scrumptious nature of this cake you will be too distracted to perform any actions you may have that day/night. This delicious cake makes you feel stronger and does have a chance to imbue you with a power the day you are eating it. The possibilities are listed below. I will not be making public the chances that a power will occur, or the chances of each individual power below appearing. It is possible for the same power to appear more than once and the powers could appear regardless of role or alignment. The cake may not be passed back to the person it came from. If this is attempted the cake will be moved to a random person. If you die while eating cake the cake will be found by a random person.

Night Kill- Any kill that happens at night via a game order and isn't a reaction (ie brutal) counts as a Night Kill. Currently this includes the Evil Wolf Kill, Good Wolf Vigilante Kill, Character Assassination, and Dead Chat Kill. But the list may include additional kills as time goes on.

Month Bonus Cards

Game 1: Good: The mimic's N0 will be one of the random villagers with no hidden attributes or traits.
Game 2: Good: The Seer's N0 view will not be the Wolf Cub or the Mimic.
Game 3: Good: One unknown sticker that was added to the game will be announced each day at Dawn.
Game 4: Evil: The mimic's N0 will be the villager with the unknown sticker instead of the villager villager.
Game 5: Good: Two of evil's stickers have randomly been invalidated for Game 6.
Game 6: Evil: The Mimic's N0 will be a random villager instead of a villager villager.
Game 7: Evil: One of the Villagers with stickers will have those stickers invalidated this game. This will not be announced on their reveal.
Game 8: Evil: One of the Martyr's stickers has been invalidated. They don't know which one.
Game 9: Good: All of Good's unknown stickers will be positive this month.

Mod Notes:
80% of the series is designed. This means that there will not be very much dynamic balancing, but I am waiting to see how well a few of the mechanisms work.

This is mod!LJ’s standard rules post. Some of this might not apply. Ignore it if it doesn’t.

Friendly Game: First and foremost, this is a friendly game. Don’t be mean to people. Things like name calling and personal attacks will not be tolerated and may result in a perma-ban from my games if I tell you that you are crossing lines and you don’t stop. If you feel like someone else crossed a line, let me know, and I can talk to them for you.

Conditional Orders: These are accepted for orders, views, kills, et cetera. They can be things like “If Irina flips Seer, NK Belash instead”, “If 4th is lynched, view Lemon”, or even “Consider Ziilch my perma-backup view if I don’t have a valid order in.” They can’t be things like, “If someone hard claims Seer between now and dawn, protect them.” If you’re unsure, just ask!

Deadlines: All deadlines are X:X0:59. That means that if dusk is at 2pm, any posts with 2:00pm timestamp are valid. If Dawn is at 12:30, orders with a 12:31 timestamp will not be accepted. If a deadline happens and I don’t call dawn/dusk/give results/etc, hold the horse. I’ll be there shortly.

Brutal Orders: Brutals are mandatory unless otherwise stated. If you are brutal and do not have a valid order or conditional in place, your brutal will take out someone from your own team. So be sure to use orders and add conditionals if you might have a brutal.

Speeding Things Up: Nightfalls are valid options. If nightfall votes happen such that lynch results are locked, I will process dusk. If this is a game with vote manipulation, I will not unless there’s enough of a margin that any voting manipulation will not be given away. Unless I say otherwise, locking your game orders at night will speed up dawn.

Minimum Requirements: This falls between a Post for Your Life and a Proof of Life game. There is no minimum posting requirement, but if you’re not engaged in the game, I might replace you out. If you’re only going to make 1 post each day, they better be good posts. Likewise, if you miss a set of night orders, you can’t make them up, and I will replace you out. You don’t have to be omnipresent, but you need to be playing.

ModChat Information: Doing anything akin to flipping your card or talking about the color of your hat will result in a modkill. This includes: directly quoting modchats, using or faking screenshots of anything in Cassandra, or having people verify information by giving out the 10th word or letter that they get. This could also include things like, “LJ was late giving out views. Tell me what time she gave them out.” For more information and clarifications on this, please see this post.

Starts When Full: If this is a starts when full game, as soon as the game fills, I will post a message saying that it’s full and giving people warning that I will put it into start mode the next night. The exception to this rule is a game that fills the week that it’s put up. Those will start immediately.

Deleting/Editing Posts:
Do not ever delete a post. It may result in a modkill but will definitely result in a loss, even if your team wins. Please do not edit posts too often, and be sure to indicate what you changed. If you edit a vote, you will be considered to have voted there, especially if you nightfall.

Other: If something comes up that I don’t address in the rules, I will use my best judgment when resolving it. If the Lynch/Night time are different in the OP and Cassy, assume that Cassy is right. If I screw something up, I will retcon or change things to even it out with both sides. If it’s pre-D2, I may re-roll.

The Cassandra Automatic Vote Tally System

Your Moderator has enabled the Cassandra Automatic Vote Tally system
for this game. In order for it to function correctly, your votes will
need to be formatted correctly. The following rules will explain what
you will need to do:

Players
1. All votes must be bolded

2. The entire vote statement must be bolded and enclosed in brackets:
[vote jmilum]

3. If your game allows, and you [vote nightfall] your vote will
be locked. Your moderator may have disabled nightfall votes.

4. Vote tallies will be automatically posted to the game thread
regularly if the tally has changed. The Tally and Vote Logs (for each
game day) are also available on the Cassandra game page.

5. If your vote is not counted be sure to check the Vote Log page and
see if it was marked invalid and why.

6. Case does not matter and simple typos will not cause the vote to fail.

7. You may [vote no lynch] if your game allows it.

8. Non voting players will be listed in the tallies. This will only be
correct if the Moderator notes which players have been killed (see below)

9. Editing a vote post will invalidate the vote and it will not be counted.


Moderators
1. The moderator will need to post [Dawn] when the day begins
(after the night results are posted) and [Dusk] when the lynch
deadline has passed and the day is over. Votes will not be counted
after [Dusk] has been posted. They will be registered again
after [Dawn] is next posted.

2. You may include a day number in the dawn and dusk post for
informational purposes, but it will not be used by the system.
Cassandra will increment an internal counter each time it sees
[Dawn] no matter what day is shown in a dawn post (i.e.
[Dawn 3] the three is allowed but ignored)

3. After dusk has been posted, the Moderator may go to the game page
on Cassandra to request a Final Tally to be posted before the normal
scan period has elapsed (i.e. Game Y gets scanned at 45 min. after the
hour, if it lynches at 7pm the moderator may request a tally to be
posted from the game page before 7:45pm. it will also be posted
regardless of whether or not it has been changed since the last
posting) - Do this by clicking on the 'Force Vote Tally' link.

4. You will need to note which players were killed via the lynch or at night by

It's almost election time once again! Despite the occasional flaw with the democratic process, the system has run pretty smoothly for several years. The candidates? Current President and known Werewolf Hunter Woodrow Wilson and possible sympathizer Charles E Huges. You would think that they'd accept their defeat gracefully, and they did for several years. But new generations of wolves brought forth new ideas. One major one was to find humans that were drawn to the power and prestige of werewolves but weren't actually wolves themselves to do their bidding. There's been an influx of such figures into DC over the past decade, making it once again the site of a major political showdown that would set the stage for the next semicentennial.

Very important PSA for newer players to the series:

Pretty much all brutals are mandatory. If you don't have a valid order set, your brutal will be RNGed between the members OF YOUR OWN TEAM. If you have a brutal, you also have a Backup Brutal order. Submit them early and often. There are at least two villagers with brutals, so there's a decent chance you have a brutal if you're a villager.

Seriously, please don't die without valid brutal orders set. It's really bad for your team.

Doubly this. The combination of how brutals/brutal chains work and guns are the most stressful thing about this series.
