More or less so yes. Got an avatar 2004-01-24 11:30:25. Just the burning eye back then, right side up. Flipped it upside down for some reason I can't remember some years ago and added rain just last week due to depressing weather here in Sweden.

Yes. I got the GG to buy my avatar by slaving in the salt mines known as geekmodding. Then when I had enough, I looked on my PC to see what images I had. For some reason, I had this suave, sophisticated portrait in my pics - and I used it. That was probably in the fall of 2007.
Sometimes at Xmas I swap it out for one with the same pic, but with a Santa hat and snow falling.

Pretty sure this is the first avatar I uploaded. Saved my geekpennies, bought the avatar, wanted something cool and game-oriented, learned how to make an animated .gif, wrote a program to render go stones that move, and there it has been ever since. 11 years and counting.

I've used others for periods but yes is the original. I don't know when I joined exactly, the start date listed in my profile was set after some server boing, hiccup, or ping. 2002 ish is right I think, but earlier than December. *shrug* Can we just say "a long time ago."

No this is not my "first" avatar. My first one was bozo the clown smoking a pipe. I'm still partial to it. I use it for other site avatars now and then.
I joined in 2001, but bought my first avatar in March 2005. For a while I was averse to buying one....I changed it to the one you see now on June 2005. I remember because it was right after playing Frischfleisch for the first time

I've been replacing one pixel in my avatar each week with a pixel of the same color, so it really depends on your opinion of the Ship of Theseus.
But in reality, my first avatar was based on this pic:
So different avatar, same character. I changed it for "Chit Chat Change Your Avatar Day" one year and liked it enough to make it permanent.
