And now I would like to introduce the next WotW to everyone. He's everyone's favorite "Bone Daddy", Luthien

Luthien is an old Vet on the BGG werewolf circuit around here. Though he's been MiA a bit lately after he got half the group addicted to Travian.

Luthien has played in a total of 22 games here at BGG and Modded 1 of them, the Famous "Nightmare Before Christmas" game. He promised to run it this past Christmas. But left everyone hanging.

Anyway, Here's a little bit about the man:

Luthien wrote:

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
And God said, Let there be light; and there was light
And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
Then later in the years this kid named Alan was born and God looked down and said unto his Angels "If only I had known then what I know now".

Thanks Sybot for picking me for WotW. Actually, Javal picked me before you but I had to turn him down because it was simply a bad week for me.

I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. I am 4 out of 4 children. I have 2 older brothers and a sister. Yea, I got beat up a lot as a kid. But I got my licks in as well! My parents are still together (God only knows how after the hell my siblings and myself put them through). My immediate family pretty much lives in Memphis or the surrounding area.

Let's see, Growing up as a kid was a lot of fun. I didn't come from a "well to do" family and of course I got all the hand me down clothes. However, having said that, the reason is probably because my parents tried to send us to private schools through our school years. Probably one of the smarter things they did (besides having me, I was a big surprise, unplanned by the way). The Memphis City School system is absolutely horrendous. I'd be lucky to work at McDonald's (no offense to all you McDonald workers out there. Ok, yea, I meant to bust on you) if I had a public school education here in Memphis. Yet, I digress.

Growing up, I was never the rebellious kid. I always figured my parents had been here before me and probably were a lot wiser than I was. So, I usually listened to them. In Elementary school I loved to play sports (soccer, baseball, and basketball). I played the piano a little as a kid. I was in the Boy Scouts of America and actually attained the rank of Eagle Scout (right before my 19th birthday!). I never did win a pinewood derby though, that will haunt me for the rest of my life.

So, now we get to the part about how I got into board gaming eh? Well this really cool game was really hitting the market around the 1982 time frame called Dungeons and Dragons. Whew, did I waste some brain cells on that game! A friend of mine got this really cool game about that time as well called "Dark Tower". It was pretty freaking amazing, of course with the computer game Phantasia out on the Commodore 64, it made for a lot of lost time for me. Another one of my geeky friends had a C64 and another game that was basically text driven (not Zork) but when you went to attack it'd make this 'lead up noise (lots of clicking) then you'd hit the space bar and it'd have this line at the bottom on how much of a hit you got. Great fun at the time! Anyway, at the local hobby shop they let me in on a game of Wizards Quest one time. What a blast!

So, fast forward to around 2000 and I was reminiscing about those games so I decided to check eBay. Sure enough, there was Dark Tower and Wizard's Quest. Of course I bought them. Then I was doing some searching online for some other games I remembered playing (like Space 1999 and Chopper Strike) as a kid, and I run across boardgamegeek back in about 2002 or so. I didn't officially sign up until later, just lurked and checked the scene out. The site led me to buy Settlers of Catan and a couple of other very popular titles. I started playing with some neighbors then a guy from boardgamegeek called me back 2 weeks after I emailed him. It was pretty weird considering he lived about a 1,000 feet away from me on the same street. From that point on I decided that Memphis really sucked for board gaming (lack of hobby stores, Memphian's are not the brightest kids on the block) and so I decided to form the Memphis Strategy and Board Gaming Community (MSBGC), which is a yahoo group.

The group has grown a lot and there are many gamers that have met through the group that probably would not have met any other way. My involvement has been minimal as of late because of a lot of stuff happening in my life (like my involvement in online WW has been lacking lately as well). But, through this group Jmilum said something about online WW at boardgamegeek, so I decided to give it a whirl and have been everyones favorite player since!

Also, things of interest about me. I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a degree in Aviation Studies. I was in the Marine Corps Reserve from 1990 to 1998. I have my private pilot's license. I am the Manager of Flight Safety at FedEx Express currently and have worked her for close to 17 years. I have never been married and am still single. No children yet. Currently I have been working on adding a Master bedroom, Master bath and laundry room onto my Midtown bungalow house (built in 1922). The room was present already, but I've gutted it and have been working on it myself. I just finished the laundry room last week. I am also building a deck onto the back of my house as well. I own a building in downtown Memphis with my brother (forgot to mention that). I play soccer still and am a soccer referee. I like to Scuba Dive and enjoy going to my families lakehouse in Greers Ferry, AR during the summer months. I ran the St. Jude half marathon in December. Great fun!

Let's see, that's probably long enough for now! I'm sure anything else you want to know you can ask.

And now for Luthien's Two Truth's and a Lie

Luthien wrote:

2 truths and a lie (I have to admit, many of you have had more interesting lives!)

I captured 3 Iraqi soldiers single handedly in Desert Storm.
I applied for and was selected for a reality TV show in Europe.
I have worked alongside the NTSB on many major aircraft accidents and been their primary contact for my company"

Hi Luthien,

Never actually played in a WW game with you, but have interacted with you in Travian obviously.

Your username has always really bugged me. Because I kept having to remind myself that you were a guy for the longest time, since the name Luthien immediately makes me think female due to the elf. I finally just looked at your Cassandra profile to figure out why the heck you would pick it.

Thank you... thank you all! I'd like to thank my brothers, my sister, my parents, my neighbors, my mayor, the crack dealer down the street, the pimps on lamar, the bum that needs 27 cents for a bus ticket, the trash people for picking up the trash... and so on...

Now you guys can find out everything you've ever wanted to know about Luthien and more!

Quote:

err... uhmmm... yea... hehe... that's gotten old though. Ugghh... I have a new time killer. It's called Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar! I swore I'd never play one of these things... but WOW, a world in JRR Tolkiens universe? Couldn't help myself. (Anyone else playing?)

Quote:
the Famous "Nightmare Before Christmas" game. He promised to run it this past Christmas. But left everyone hanging.

Hey, I thought suspense was good? Honestly, I looked at all the games being run right before last Xmas and there were a ton of them! I didn't feel that introducing another game into that would have been good. I'd still like to run it again though, with a little revamp of course. It was way too labor intensive on my part. But, at least Cassandra will now tally the votes. That was a major pain!!! LOL!

Ok... on to your qustions:

Quote:
Do you prefer to play as evil or as good?

I would have to say evil... Out of the 22 games, I've been a Werewolf TWICE and a support role TWICE (Hmmm... won 3 out of the 4 games as evil, interesting). So, why do people still suspect me day one all the time? That's why the Arkibet rule came about, or at least partially. For those with short memories: Whoever Luthien votes for day one is a Evil. hehe... though it hasn't always quite worked out that way. But, my percentage at spotting evil is better than most I would think.

Yet, I digress again (I do that a lot). But, Evil is fun to me not because I'm lurking in the shadows, but because I (most of the time) can't hide it! LOL! So, once I'm a known evil I like to taunt the village. That's always fun. I think in Dalestephonson's "Clash of Kings" the village survivors knew I was evil but wouldn't kill me because of the Game of Thrones they were playing. I think that is the one where Shug killed me in the night for the win (Grrrrr)

Quote:
Your favourite game, your most satisfying win, and your most frustrating loss?

Wow, there have been some really good ones I've been in. I really like theme a lot. If you can mesh theme with play (and I like the theme) then it's a winner with me. Those that I really enjoyed were:

All the Harry Potter, Dune and Game of Thrones games and the History and Practice of English Magic top the list honestly. The others I have played in have been a lot of fun as well, especially the Disco Inferno one. That was fun simply because there was some fun roleplaying in it, plus I had a cool avatar for that one.

Favorite though would have to be the first Harry Potter game. I'm still upset at Melissa! LOL! That was also the most frustrating loss. My most satisyfing win was "A Game of Thrones". Although we knew who the other was, it was fun playing Tywin Lannister only to have Tyrion (played by Threnody) ascend the throne and win the game as a lannister (after she tried to backstab us! LOL!) Of course, having read the books helped as well.

Quote:
As Hufflepuff as you are, wouldn't you rather be in Gryffindor?

Ummm.... no.

Quote:

Honestly it's because Freyja makes you wear those thin white pants while wearing her thongs. Most men would feel weird about that or question their sexuality. But, you don't. You just flow with it. Having that amount of fortitude is very awe inspiring. That's why you are my favorite WW player.

Quote:

Haha... yea, and for those who haven't read my online profile and have wondered: "Ummm... actually it is from Tolkien and it has to do with some hot Elf chick. However, I was IM'ing with this chick several years back and she had this as her ID. I thought it sounded cool, so I took it. Didn't realize it was a Female Elf name. "

Quote:
First a WW Question..... Which do you prefer "Live" WW or "Online" WW?

Hmmm... that's a tough one. I'm gonna go with live for now, only because I don't become so OC about it! When I'm playing online, I'm constantly checking to see if there was a post and it doesn't make for a very effecient work week! LOL!!!

Quote:
Are you going to be having another Halloween Party this Fall?

Oh yea, absolutely! Hopefully the deck will be finished by then and it'll be a nice night to play on the deck. 4th annual Halloween board game party will happen! Although I haven't done much board gaming lately...

Wow, so much I could say on this one! And I have an endless amount of free text to explain that? I'm not sure that'll be enough! Maybe I should just publish a book about it. The title would simply be "Kima". Actually, you are a great mod! Not sure how you keep up with all the emails and things happening in Dune, but Kudos to you! By the way, when are you going to finish updating the stats on your games on Cassandra? ;-)

Ok, hopefully that satisifies some of your curiosities for now!

Will be happy to answer more questions.

Favorite Movie: (come on!, seriously?) The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Book: Umm... The Stinky Cheese Man? Seriously, Hmmm... I'd have to think about this one. I'd say the whole Harry Potter series. Yea, I know... I'm easy to please.

Season: Autumn hands down.

Board game yet to be released: Probably Starcraft. I'm a sucker for FFG stuff. Love the feel of their games.

Do you think your avatar gets you in trouble in online WW? I mean, on a strictly psychological level, wouldn't you rather lynch "Bone Daddy" with a scary eye-catching avatar? Or Kima who's "Up to No Good"? Rather than Freyja "Goddess of Love"?

Haha... yea, I've always thought maybe my avatar attracted lynch, kinda like Sliders avatar and what Rukasu's used to be. So, yea... on a psychological level I think it does attract lynch. When I played Disco Inferno I changed it to a picture from a card from "Pimp the Backhanding", and not once did I get close to lynch. LOL!

Personally, I want a Lynch prevention power based on my avatar. I call it the sponge.

If I get lynched. I remain alive and another player joins the game on my side as well. Kinda like asexual reproduction.

Speaking of asexual reproduction. I hear that Luthien's future ex-girlfriend was floating the idea of being able to reproduce asexually just so she wouldn't have to touch him.

Which one? I've had so many...let's see:

Advance Wars: Probably Not
Sgt. Cortez from TimeSplitters: Maybe

Ummm...wow I don't remember my others. I know I switch a lot for games, and until recently I always had a video game theme.

Resident Evil 4: Possible
HeroScape Ninja: Maybe

Okay, new question: Has there ever been a time when you are tempted to change your avatar? I know I am almost every month.

Slobbers! (We are HP after all!!!)

Hehe... Travian. Yes, it is funny how I found it and got half of the WW clan somewhat addicted to it. Though, I am disappointed Xand is no longer playing.

Well, first God created the oceans... oh nevermind. Basically, fast forward to December of 2005. I had a yahoo personal up and some chickie (actually that was part of her handle) emailed me (like, I mean, what babe wouldn't right?) and so we emailed and met, and of course she was dying to take me home and use me (I get so tired of being used for my body all the time... sigh). Well, I didn't let her do that (at least not then! ;-) ). Anyway, this girl lives about a little over an hour from Memphis. She's in Jonesboro, AR for J's and Sybot's edification. Well, she has a 15 (now) year old son. He's kinda a nerd like us here. Into reading fantasy books and playing Starcraft on the computer (I introduced him Rome: Total War... anyway, he spent countless hours wasted on that game as well). Yet, I digress... as usual.

So, we are still friends and we hang out every now and then. Well, I was talking to her one time and she said something about her son playing some online game called Travian. I was clueless. So, I checked it out... the rest is history.

And that's how I got half of you addicted to Travian, through some girl from the Yahoo Personals. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Sybot should have known it had something to do with a girl!)

Do I ever feel guilty about it? hehe... Never.

Only when I played Disco Inferno do I ever remember changing my avatar. I like my avatar. So, no... not really. Now, I almost did during Kima's Dune game and SecretSauces A Game of Thrones (once everyone knew I was Tywin). Actually, now that I think about it, I might have changed it to Tywin for a little bit. But, I always change back to the bone daddy of em all!
