I can't get into basketball, its an interesting game until it becomes a foulfest at the end. If part of the accepted strategy of your game is to violate its rules, the penalty for violations of rules is not enough. Now, if they followed the NHL's lead and instead of free throws made a team play down a player for, oh say, 30 seconds or a minute that would be interesting.
Most games don't devolve into a foulfest and the NBA's rule regarding deliberate fouls of bad free throw shooters in the last 2 minutes has made it less prevalent. Still, it is a strategy used by all the teams that does break the momentum of the game (and the team who is winning, which is actually the point).
