Original report from the Chapman center available here.

Jesus, it's worse than we thought. Only 26% of the population *didn't* believe in any of the nine conspiracy theories they asked about. The more conspiracies believed in, the more likely you were to believe the world would end in your lifetime, to distrust others, and to fear gubmint drones and Obamacare.

Pretty shady story.

Lots of headlines about the Nodak oil bust. Not only that, but the stories vary from very bad to a mere bump. It's a pretty significant story in Nodak, although a minor story elsewhere.

Everyone who has followed the news minimally has seen conflicting stories about the ND oil crash. Even if they haven't, they've certainly heard about the Williston basin oil boom that has vaulted the US into the world's top oil producer. Busts follow booms. The price of gas is down, it's not hard to figure out ND might be hurting.

I chalk much of it up to pollsters who are not familiar with the news and who should have picked a more neutral fake question.

There is a crash in ND, the severity of which is in question.

Yeah, Google has a slew of results about a North Dakota economic crash. Oops. I guess the people here will retract their use of "gubmint" and thumb your post for jumping to conclusions.

Well, duh... was discussed in an email thread on HRC's mail server. She was responsible for it, utilizing the secret shadow flying monkey army to disrupt distribution lines from ND. The second part of the plan was to purchase the depressed resources, stockpile, then flood the market in Russia to retaliate against Trumptin.

The problem with conspiracy theory's is that once one of them come to light as valid, it give all the others a bit of ammunition.

So for example the ChemTrail nutters would be laughable until they find out that there was some testing on citizens in St. Louis during the cold war. All of the sudden the nut jobs have some ammunition.

When you think the feds are spying on you, then you find out from Snowden, that yes they are.

The other question is that of a causal nature. Does the belief in conspiracy theories cause those other things or does belief in conspiracy theories and a fear of the end of the world, distrusting others, drones, etc. stem from a overal tendency in the persons personality towards fear, distrust and anxiety.
