The responses in the other towing threads confused me a bit.

I get that towing another mech is optional, but it was mentioned that pushing a mech is optional as well. That doesn't make sense to me.

If your command line is forcing you to move forward, and there's a friendly mech infront of you, how is pushing them "optional"? Wouldn't they be forced to move as well? If so, does pushing require 2 points of movement (like towing does)?

Pushing is not optional (I guess unless it's with Omnistomp since you can strafe).

Pushing takes one point of movement and is intended to be a more efficient way to move an object. Towing is safer but much harder to do repeatedly - though it's an ideal way to get an object out from the corner or the side of the map.
