So, we've come up with some questions about the timing for defeating villains. The rule book says that you defeat villains in the clean up phase, so do things like the broomsticks or Oliver Wood grant you influence to use for your next turn, or can they be used on the turn you defeat the villain? The other instance we had was Ron defeating Fenrir Greyback(who prevents healing) with more than three Attack tokens. Does Ron's power activate and then get immediately negated by Fenrir? Or because you're "defeating" him, even if he's not "defeated" until clean-up would you get to heal?

Villains are defeated immediately, the moment you place the last attack token on them. So you discard them and get the reward right then. They're just not replaced with a new villain until the clean up phase.

I recommend checking some of the older posts for this game, as I believe some of these questions have been answered, but generally speaking, the villains are considered defeated once you've assigned enough attack tokens to defeat them. You get the reward immediately. In the clean up phase, you physically remove the villain card (you could theoretically do this as soon as they're defeated) and then refill their slot with a new villain.
