Cryptozoic picked up Train Heist and naturally given the chance every designer would jump for the opportunity to refine their game based on feedback. These rule changes for the 2nd Edition are to balance the challenge for each player count and keep it consistent from game to game, but can be played with the original version of Train Heist. These new rules apply to all modes and player counts unless stated otherwise.
New Rule #1) During set up the top Train Switch Token should always be placed red-side-up, and the lower green-side-up to begin the game. The train starts at town A heading counter clockwise.
New Rule #2) When the Sheriff is at either end of the train spaces, cannot move further, and is incited to move in a direction he cannot, he bounces back in the opposite direction to finish his movement. The 'bounce' doesn't count towards the cost of a movement for him so if he's at the far right of the train and cannot move further right, and a Event Card incites him to move two spaces right, he'll move two left instead.
New Rule #3) Applies to 2-player co-op mode only. Both players start the game with one Bullet Token.
New Rule #4) During the Event Deck setup after initially shuffling the deck, remove the following card amounts and set them aside for the remainder of the game. 2 player - Remove 3 Event Cards 3 player - Remove 6 Event Cards 4 player - Remove 9 Event Cards
New Rule #5) The 'Bronco', 'Calamity', and 'Lucky Shot' Wanted Cards have been removed from the 2nd Edition.
Rule Clarification: When returning loot to a town ALL loot on your person must be returned.
As the designer I officially endorse these changes and encourage you to use them!
