Is there anything new or changed with this designer edition? 40+ years. Is there some update or modification made to the design? With keeping the game in line with its own history of course.

Christopher,

I am sure some of the developers can chime in but until then here is the GMT website description:

https://www.gmtgames.com/p-591-the-russian-campaign-designer...

From what I can tell, some balancing additions but 99% TRC remains:

"Players of earlier versions of TRC will be able to immediately play the 5th edition but the designer, publisher, and developers are steadfast in their belief that the current rules make it even easier for new players to quickly get into the game."

Christopher, here is the link to the START of the CSW discussion on TRC5:

That will give you some idea of where this new edition is going. 8^)

The biggest changes in TRC over the past 45 years are in the physical aspects, the rules themselves are not that different. The latest edition rolls back some of the changes in the 4th edition. (Examples: Leaders get their ZOC back, you roll for Archangel replacements.) There are some additional counters, everything is bigger, and the map has a few minor changes compared to its 1971 forebear.
